- x86 (32-bit) or x64 ? Win7 Pro 64 Bit
- the original installed OS on the system? Upgrade install
- an OEM or full retail version? Full

- What is the age of system (hardware)? 1 mth - 1 year (New 300GB SSD, MB & CPU new with install)
- What is the age of OS installation (have you re-installed the OS?) Done whenever Win7 went public.

System has been running well for months, Tuesday's Windows update didn't work. On reboot Wed it tried to complete installation and timed out, same thing happened on Thursday's (today) reboot. I manually went into Windows update and installed the two updates.

On reboot I get a BSOD and "A clock interrupt was not received on a secondary processor ..." message. I've restored to Monday's point but no improvement. I can boot in Safe mode but that's it.

This can be a CPU issue or a chipset/BIOS issue.
Have you tried BIOS Update?
