I am pretty sure it must be due to Windows Update (or some hidden auto driver update)
I have been playing sleeping dogs / diablo3 / GW2 / LoL happily,
but since last night, it suddenly freezes or BSOD
i didn't upgrade video driver (GTX560Ti nVidia) since 2.9xx,
when seeing the BSOD, so upgrade the nVidia right away to 3.06.02... no luck

latest nVidia crashes some Windows Update??
all games crashed / freezed / BSOD now...

Welcome
You have given us only one report, which is not enough to draw conclusions.
Lets test drivers and then move on to hardware if necessary.

Driver Verifier
I'd suggest that you first backup your data and then make sure you've got access to another computer so you can contact us if problems arise. Then make a System Restore point (so you can restore the system using the Vista/Windows 7 Startup Repair feature).

In Windows 7 you can make a Startup Repair disk by going to Start....All Programs...Maintenance...Create a System Repair Disc - with Windows Vista you'll have to use your installation disk or the "Repair your computer" option at the top of the Safe Mode menu .

Then, here's the procedure:
- Go to Start and type in "verifier" (without the quotes) and press Enter
- Select "Create custom settings (for code developers)" and click "Next"
- Select "Select individual settings from a full list" and click "Next"
- Select everything EXCEPT FOR "Low Resource Simulation" and click "Next"
- Select "Select driver names from a list" and click "Next"
Then select all drivers NOT provided by Microsoft and click "Next"
- Select "Finish" on the next page.

Reboot the system and wait for it to crash to the Blue Screen. Continue to use your system normally, and if you know what causes the crash, do that repeatedly. The objective here is to get the system to crash because
Driver Verifier is stressing the drivers out. If it doesn't crash for you, then let it run for at least 36 hours of continuous operation (an estimate on my part).

If you can't get into Windows because it crashes too soon, try it in Safe Mode.
If you can't get into Safe Mode, try using System Restore from your installation DVD to set the system back to the previous restore point that you created.

Driver Verifier - Enable and Disable

Thanks, i just started the verifier, it gives BSOD before entering windows
from minidump, it has two red items, dtsoftbus01.sys and ntoskrnl.exe
i uninstall daemon tool in safe mode, restart and enter normal windows successfully

so i just leave the verifier settings for 2 days? is that during this period, the system will be slow or freeze a bit (but not totally freeze)?

About 2 days 36 hours is ok. The computer is acting different because verifier is putting stress on the drivers. Read the warning about verifier in my post.

Thanks, i will keep monitoring this

i find that "nvbridge.kmd" now becomes "not loaded", what does that mean?

Thats a process used to load files used to run software, but it can also be a virus. After we are done with verifier send everything and we will do the best to get things back the way they should.
Not loading can be caused by driver problems.

a message frequently popup, it freezes a bit or black screen for 1-2 seconds

"Display driver NVIDIA Windows Kernel Mode Driver, Version 306.02 stopped responding and has successfully recovered."

Verfier is screwing with the drivers. The ones that crash (only ones we are concerned with) will be in the dmps.

google and tried the following
Go to windows/system32/drivers and rename nvlddmkm.sys to
nvlddmkm.sys.old. Go to the nvidia directory and find the file nvlddmkm.sy_
and copy it to windows/system32. Using the cmd window (DOS box) type
EXPAND.EXE nvlddmkm.sy_ nvlddmkm.sys. When the expansion is complete, copy
the new nvlddmkm.sys to windows/system32/drivers and restart the computer.

sometimes the games (sleeping dogs / d3) run well for 30mins, and normal desktop usage is fine
random screen freezes and BSOD (less frequent)

and saw sth. on "ntfs.sys" on BSOD, ran chkdsk, no bad sectors found

***************************************
BSOD just happens in game now and desktop freeze seems less frequent

Not caused by verifier, keep it on.

just now experienced screen freeze, need to hard reset

thanks~

Verifier puts extreme stress on the drivers, bad ones will cause BSOD. If we change all those drivers we hope for no more BSODs, If you get no BSODs, then its not a driver and we look to hardware.
