I've just brought this PC running Win7 64bit and recently the computer started to freeze.

I when thought event viewer and could not find anything which stood out to me apart from system shutdown which was caused by me, as I had to hold the power button to get out of the freeze.

The computer had started to Blue Screen, I've been through msconfig, I've even disabled the wireless card and only used the Ethernet cable. I thought it may have been the power in the house, therefore went out and brought a Surge Protector but the PC still keeps on crashing.

I've attached the dump files.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Hi Music46.

100% Guaranteed!! :D

Your dump files all give a stop error of 0x7F. Its a stop error that ZoneAlarm firewall gives frequently and involves the NETIO.sys system driver. You have two (?) options:

ZoneAlarm Firewall is known to be a cause of BSOD's on many Windows 7 systems. Download the ZoneAlarm Remover - http://download.zonealarm.com/bin/fr...cpes_clean.exe. Uninstall ZoneAlarm through Programs and Features. Boot to safe mode and run the ZoneAlarm Remover. Reboot. Make sure that Windows Firewall is enabled.
Alternatively
Try this Microsoft hotfix if you wish to keep ZoneAlarm: Stop Error 0x07F when you run apps. that transfer data by the UDP protocol in Win 7. I can neither verify or discount this fix. It may work, it may not.

Your latest dump file blames NETIO.SYS which is a Windows System file and is highly unlikely to be the cause.
Old and incompatible drivers can and do cause issues with Windows 7, often giving false error codes.

UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP (7f)
This means a trap occurred in kernel mode, and it's a trap of a kind
that the kernel isn't allowed to have/catch (bound trap) or that
is always instant death (double fault). The first number in the
bugcheck params is the number of the trap (8 = double fault, etc)
Consult an Intel x86 family manual to learn more about what these
traps are. Here is a *portion* of those codes:
If kv shows a taskGate
use .tss on the part before the colon, then kv.
Else if kv shows a trapframe
        use .trap on that value
Else
.trap on the appropriate frame will show where the trap was taken
(on x86, this will be the ebp that goes with the procedure KiTrap)
Endif
kb will then show the corrected stack.
Arguments:
Arg1: 0000000000000008, EXCEPTION_DOUBLE_FAULT
Arg2: 0000000080050031
Arg3: 00000000000006f8

I'd say do them all, but one at a time, between re-boots. You may be lucky with the logmein even if you don't find an update. Just be aware that it does cause problems for a lot of people.
If you blue screen again, I'd remove that straight away and then see what happens.

The Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller 7.037 is (on mine) under your network adaptor in Device Manager. Mine's actually called Realtek PCIe FE Family Controller.

Driver Install - Manual method

  1. Download the driver and extract it to a folder
  2. Open the Device Manager
  3. Right click the device you wish to change the drivers for. You can select Properties > Driver > Driver Details to check you have the right device you wish to change the driver(s) for.
  4. Choose Update Driver Software.
  5. Select Browse My Computer For Driver Software.
  6. Select Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer.
  7. Select Have disk...
  8. Select Browse..
  9. Navigate to the extracted folder and double click on the .inf file
  10. Hit OK, then Next and the driver(s) will then begin to install.

DDCDrv.sys Tue Apr 08 08:50:11 2008 WINI2C-DDC Kernel Mode Driver - I update this for the ethernet card, was this correct?
I assume it was. I googled it!!

I'm a little  are both the driver for network adapters?

Because I only have two adapter one which is Ethernet the other wireless. Which one would be for which?

Just a thought: Or are both drivers for the same network card which comes under one installations?

Hi Music46.

If you've got to pay for it then it's not, for want of a better description, a system required file.
Leave it as it is for now. If it does cause issues or you don't use the software then uninstall it.

Hi Music46. I missed you post. Soz!

STOP 0x0000007E: SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED (go to top of page)
Usual causes:
Insufficient disk space, Device driver, Video card, BIOS, Breakpoint with no debugger attached, Hardware incompatibility, Faulty system service, Memory, 3rd party remote control.

Your latest dump file lists VMC412.sys (Wed Jan 27 02:33:11 2010) as the probable cause. I cannot find any information for this driver at the moment. Does the drivers date give you any clues?
Old and incompatible drivers can and do cause issues with Windows 7, often giving false error codes.

DDCDrv.sys Tue Apr 08 08:50:11 2008 Disable this driver by renaming it.
Create a System Restore Point. GoTo C:\Windows\System32\Drivers, locate the driver files and rename them from .sys to .old.
Reboot and the drivers will not load. This also breaks the software or hardware these drivers are associated with.

SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED_M (1000007e)
This is a very common bugcheck. Usually the exception address pinpoints
the driver/function that caused the problem. Always note this address
as well as the link date of the driver/image that contains this address.
Some common problems are exception code 0x80000003. This means a hard
coded breakpoint or assertion was hit, but this system was booted
/NODEBUG. This is not supposed to happen as developers should never have
hardcoded breakpoints in retail code, but ...
If this happens, make sure a debugger gets connected, and the
system is booted /DEBUG. This will let us see why this breakpoint is
happening.
Arguments:
Arg1: ffffffffc0000005, The exception code that was not handled
Arg2: fffff880024a19a8, The address that the exception occurred at
Arg3: fffff880021cf5e8, Exception Record Address
