BSOD Gaming Atikmdag.sys error

I've been having BSOD's for approximately 2 months. Currently averaging 2 or 3 a week

I've spent the last month trying to resolve the issue and I've tried multiple fixes which have been suggested via various forums / threads - Found some unrelated errors and fixed those but the Atikmdag.sys errors still continue (though the frequency of BSOD's appears to have slowed down somewhat (was originally daily -)

Rather than going through everything that I've done, thought it would be better to post my BSOD report and start again from scratch.

Any help with this matter greatly appreciated

Please uninstall Gigabyte software for the time of troubleshooting as it is known for causing bluescreens.

Please uninstall everything of AMD using Display Driver Uninstaller and install new drivers from AMD. Be sure to ONLY install the drivers using custom/advanced options.

Removed two pieces of Gigabyte software

Downloaded and ran DDU in safemode, removing all AMD

Dowloaded and installed AMD drivers only, unchecking all the other rubbish which comes with it.

Will give it a go, may take a day or two of testing before I get back to you (depends upon how much gaming the wife permits ;))

Many thanks for your assistance - will let you know

Andy

Had a BSOD again last night - Atikmdag.sys and atikmdag.sys whilst gaming

Potentially may have resolved the matter but want to leave it a couple more days to make sure, plus will record here what the potential problem was, how I found it and what I've done so if in a couple of days I can report back its sorted then this thread may help someone else in the future

Before I posted post the most recent BSOD, thought I'd run several basic checks again to see if I could pre-empt bothering anyone. Scan Disk, SFC /Scannow, Driver Verifier and memtest. All came back with no errors.

Whilst running memtest I noticed it stated my CPU temperature was 84c. GPU temperature is something I keep an eye on whilst gaming, but to date I haven't bothered with the CPU temperature. Downloaded Core Temp and Speedfan which monitor CPU temperature and booted up my game - CPU temp, when under load, quickly rose to 100c.

Ripped the comp apart this morning, gave it a good clean (which I often do) but this time I replaced the thermal paste between the CPU and Heatsink. Booted it back up, put it under load and CPU now running at a comfortable 48c.

Anyway, wont be certain for a couple more days that the BSOD's are fixed, will be seriously F*^%* off if they aren't. - will keep the thread open and report back then -

Much to my disappointment - another BSOD tonight whilst gaming (all temps were fine at the time)

Due to previously cleaning my system, I've only got the dump file from this crash (see previous attachment for earlier ones)

Any help with his matter greatly appreciated as I've spent hours trawling the forums to no avail.

Thanks in anticipation of your assistance

Andy

Many thanks for your time for looking at this.

Ran DDU, unistalled previous drivers, installed suggested drivers - drivers only from package.

Will give it a go and report back in a day or two, sooner if I have a BSOD

Not good news I'm afraid, another today at 10:36 hrs. This time 'whoCrashed' (which is the limit of my BSOD workings) states the usual Atikmdag.sys and ntoskrnl.exe. Ntoskrnl I've seen a couple times before, probably comes up in 1 in 4 crashes alongside Atikmdag.sys.

Upload info attached

Going to try a couple of things incase its game specific - So unless something leaps out of the logs at you don't worry about it too much as I'll give it a couple more days my side and try a couple of things (one of which is rolling back the GPU drivers)

Updating the BIOS scares me :)

Wife just went into hospital for something and at the same time received my grandson for a week \0/- so a bit manic at the moment and not much time to test out the game for the hours needed following any tweaks (I'm a young grandad for my sins). May be a week or two but I will get back to you and let you know

Thanks again
