Solved BSOD - getting BSOD error 0x0000003b a lot while idle or playing music

My computer has been doing this a lot recently and its started doing it more often, usually the 0x0000003b code pops up when either windows media player is on or when it is stood idle for a while. Using NirSoft's bluescreen viewer it stating that the ntoskrnl.exe is the problem in all minidumps, it also sometimes states nvator64.sys is the other file that causes the bluescreen. i have attached the minidumps to this and hopefully someone will tell me how to fix it, i have checked online and gathered it down to these 3 options... either my PSU is not powerful enough to support the payload, my HDD is corrupt or the RAM is stating to fail. Thank you for the people who can help! as a side note, i have tried formatting and reinstalling my windows 7 64bit ultimate, but the BSOD can appear on setup and did at one point so i had to renew the whole setup, recently it has started doing it a lot more. one happened not too long ago and also had the CDD.dll file as an error. Also before anyone says it, YES MY DRIVERS ARE ALL UP TO DATE! there are literally no updates available for my hardware which is why i think its either my HDD or RAM.

Gigabyte M52LT-D3
4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 RAM (not sure on the manufacturer)
NVIDIA Geforce GT 440

UPDATE: this just happened to me aswell... states the NTFS.sys is now the error (Error code 0x00000024) was literally only thumbing through facebook nothing else.

What I can suggest from seeing your dumps is to check your hard drive for errors following this tutorial :ar: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/433-disk-check.html then Hard drive scan usings SeaTools :ar: SeaTools for Windows | Seagate - Both long and short tests

Then run memtest86+ for 8 passes preferably overnight :ar:http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/105647-ram-test-memtest86.html

One more way to check if any of the memory sticks are defective, insert them one at a time in different slots and see how you computer performs/freezes or crashes.

I need your msinfo32 file to check some stuff.

Please upload your msinfo32.nfo file. To get this:

• Click on the Start rb:
• Type msinfo32 into the Search programs and files box
• When it opens, go to File, Save
• Save as msinfo32.nfo and save in a place you will remember
• Let it finish the process of gathering and saving the system info
• Right click the .nfo file, click send to compressed (zipped) folder
• Upload the .zip file here.

thanks for the reply, so far i have done most of these apart from the 8 pass memtest, the seatool only allows me to check my memory stick that is in and not my HDD is this a problem? the ChkDsk shows no signs of problems reported and states my HDD is healthy. whereas the memtest i did for 3 passes and had to end because the computer was needed, i have uploded another 2 .rar files of 18 photos containing photos of the memtest from the 1st error to the 138th, i'm pretty sure leaving it for 8 passes would just show that the ram is completely FUBAR? if not then i shall start it again the next time i have about 10 hours free. Also there was another blue screen 0x0000001E but the minidump file got erased when norton utilities did a scan so i cannot upload that

I've seen the pictures, thanks. If you want to be sure whether or not your ram is faulty, go ahead and do the ram test for 8 passes.

May I know if this is a new computer? Is it under warranty? From your installed programs I don't see anything bad installed, except I would recommend Microsoft Security Essentials instead of Norton.

Seagate is for hard drive test - not memory..Anyway lets keep the hard drive aside, we'll test that later if we're sure your ram is not faulty.

And since you have 4 GB of ram, put in one stick at a time and check how your computer performs with that stick.

this isn't a new computer no, i've had it for quite a while, i think somewhere in the region of about 4 - 5 years. I've just added new things to it the RAM not being one of them. the seatools that i downloaded from the link you gave shows my memory stick only nothing else ive tried rescanning with it but it will not pick up my HDD at all. on a side not though i will never install windows security essentials on this computer as i think it is awful, the last time i pulled that down to my computer it gave me a trojan everyday for the week i had it, Norton is one of the best Anti-viruses and i wish to stick with that, thanks for the offer though and i shall do the 8 pass tomorrow when im not at work, do you want the screen shots again of all errors or just what the 8th pass shows? also for the different sticks does that mean to do 8 passes on each stick? or does it mean to do only 3 - 4 with each individually? Well the tests already show the ram has problems. And I'm suggesting to run memtest again on each stick for 8 passes to make sure that its the ram thats causing blue screens.
You could keep MSE while we troubleshoot the problems with your computer and get back norton when we're done.

Easy way out would be..if you have a neighbor or friend who could lend you matching ram sticks (compatible with your mobo) to check if you're having bsods with them.

well I'm buying some new RAM on the 31st because I'm building a new computer all together, if its the RAM that's the problem in this one i get get another set and sell this on that's all I'm curious about but i don't have any extra RAM at this moment in time. im really not bothered if i have to spend about 3 days on this, it'll give me something to do

Right after about 12 hours worth of waiting i finally have the photos, sorry this took so long i had to work around trying all the slots with different memory, from the photos what i can actually gather is that the second slot for RAM in my MB is working fine whereas the others are faulty perhaps? I'm also a little concerned about the RAM speeds changing from 533MHz to 200MHz, could the MB not be picking up the right speed for the RAM or is the RAM faulty in the sense that its not pushing as much out as it should be doing? i didnt do many passes on the 3/4 slot because i didnt have enough time before i went to work, perhaps you could shine a light on what the fault could be maybe?

Do you have a friend or neighbor you can borrow ram sticks from?
This way you can make sure your ram is the problem and nothing else on your motherboard.

Just as a quick side note while i'm waiting for the RAM to come, what are the 2 error codes normally caused by? 0x0000003b & 0x00000024? because it seems im getting alot mroe 0x00000024 codes now? which i think is HDD?
