Hi there,
Can anybody help please?:
Windows 10 was installed on Alienware Aurora bios A11. After some problems Windows 7 was reinstalled.
Various drivers were missing...after installing all required drivers from the Dell website the computer keeps crashing. I think the blue screen message said 'uncontrollable hardware error'.
Can anybody please advise? I have attached the zip file.
Many thanks in advance

Hello and welcome Nicola now you are one of many who are reinstalling 7 after 10 and it is difficutl to keep up with that number.
Now your dumps they are pointing the finger at the CPU but are no way conclusive.

Ok temps are fine in fact quite good and I think we have to turn the heat up a bit on the CPU so can you run this Prime95

Lets see what that results in and then it is onto checking the system in toto.

Hi, thanks again for your help.
I've ran the stress test about 4 times and although every test has passed, it keeps blue screening every time I've run it.
The first 3 times it blue screened within a few minutes or so.
I went online for a bit before the 4th test to see if it would shut down and it seemed was fine....I ran the stress test for the 4th time and it blue screened within a minute or so. Since restarting half of the screen is completely black (the left side) whilst the other side seems normal.
I've shut it down a few times and I still have this weird half black screen :0
I've shut it down now and I'll leave it off for a while to see if that helps.
Do you have any advice please?
Thanks, Nicola

Hi there,
Just a quick update - screen is back to normal now :) I think it was because the program crashed.
I tried the stress test again and it blue screened again....maximum cpu temp was 57 before it crashed.

I tried the stress test again a couple of times in safe mode and the same thing happened - BSOD after a minute or so. I had hoped that the problem was driver/software related as I needed to install quite a few drivers after reinstalling Windows 7. Does the fact that it is also blue screening in safe mode mean that it definitely is a hardware problem? I hope not.

I have attached the latest dmp files in case that helps.

Again, any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time.

Thanks, Nicola

Hmm far too many BSOD's already and it is still flagging the CPU now I found this 0x124_GenuineIntel - WIN7_DRIVER_FAULT - WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR - Microsoft Community
and apart form the CPU test it describes which unfortunately you cannot do properly there are some other suggestions and some which I was going to go for anyway. So can you run these in safe mode

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1538-sfc-scannow-command-system-file-checker.html

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/433-disk-check.html< if necessary include the /f and /r in the command line as per Option2 (insafe mode is a wise way to go)

There is a list of stuff in that link above to go in and try too and apart form the BIOS which I don't like touching too much are worth trying. But at the moment we are looking down the barrel of running a few tests on other hardware and if all fails then maybe it will come down to a new CPU:(

I just wished it had flagged something else but .....

Look there is one thing you can run and I usually start with the obvious and work through hardware to eliminate stuff as you go and this is the first hardware I head for -

Using HW Info

PART A:

You can test the volts onthe PSU with HW Info HWiNFO,HWiNFO32/64 - Download <download the right bit version and close the right hand window select Sensorsand scroll down to the power section where you will see what the volts aredoing see my pic. In my pic the section (Nuvoton)with VBATT is a dead give away you are in the section for the rail voltages. There are other section titles and one that pops up often is ITE

Now the voltage on thedifferent rails have to be within 5% =+/- of what is required or the machinewill not work properly if at all.

See this for the railvoltage info

http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/power-supply-specifications-atx-reference,3061.html (Section 2.)

The original right handwindow shows the machine running and is handy for that but for looking at thecomponents in some detail close it and use the main left hand side panel

FOR OTHER COMPONENTS

PART B:

Open each small squarewith + in it on the section the components are in and then click on theindividual component/s (it willhighlight in blue) - in the right hand side will appear all sorts of detailsincluding brands speeds and other essential info that particular device. Seepic for example.

Hello again,
I've tried all suggestions in the post and i'm still getting the BSOD.
No problems with the drive scans and the volts are all within the required range too.
I've now reinstalled Windows 7 and I haven't yet installed any drivers - but I'm still getting the same blue screens and still can't do the stress test for more than a few minutes :(
I have noticed that I have 3 copies of Windows and 3 Windows.old folders.
Could that be causing the blue screens? I've tried to remove them but I'm having dificulties.
If the old versions of Windows 7 aren't causing a problem can you suggest any hardware tests please?
Thank you, Nicola

So I have it right Nicola you have the one drive with the new install and some Windows old on that drive? I am not going to say they are the problem but nothing is out of the realms of possibilities.

Or do you have three drives each with a Windows on it.

Now it might be an idea to disconnect the drives leaving only the current boot one hooked up.

Hi, there is a version of Windows on the HDD (C drive) plus 2 Windows.old folders.
There is also a version of Windows on the SSD (E drive).
Just recently when the pc was booting up it would ask which operating system to boot from...(Windows 7 or Windows 7) both worked.
I went into MSCONFIG and deleted the older version, but this has only removed the option form start up. The copy of Windows is still on the drive and I'm not sure how to remove it completely.
I'm not sure if this could cause any problems but the pc worked perfectly before Windows 10 was installed./ Windows 7 was reinstalled. The blue screens have only been happening since then.

Thanks, Nicola
