I have an HP M8430f PC desktop, with upgrades such as an ANTEC earthwatts 650
and ATI 4870.

Lately for a couple months, the computer would crash on cold start ups.
and after it crashed the I would usually get bluescreens or nothing at all. it would sometimes turn the screen black and the monitor would lose signal, but the computer would still be on. Sometimes it would just randomly restart or hang on a certain screen. This also happens during start up where it would just hang on the windows logo screen or etc.
After crashing and starting up 6-7 times (holding power button to shut it off and turn it back on) it would finally run without crashing

Thanks again guys , appreciate it

Welcome!

Unfortunately, that is only a shortcut to your dmp file.

Do you think you could upload the original for us?

Thanks,

thats correct, I had windows 7 ultimate 64 bit, and it kept crashing, so an HP tech told me to revert back to vista SP2 and upgrade the bios etc. I figure that since it was crashing so much on windows 7, that if i fix the problem in windows vista before i upgrade to windows 7, it would go away. And as I'm writing this I got another bsod which I will post as well. Do you guys think the problem is me using a windows vista 64 bit home premium and upgrading it to windows 7 ultimate 64 bit RETAIL which is causing the problem?

John: finished doing the scan and nothings wrong

yes :)

your best bet is perform a format and fresh install of windows 7 , apply all your drivers from your manufacturers websites, such as chipset and sound and gfx etc then if you experience any problems post them here :geek:

I've already tried the memory test swapped out sticks of ram 1 at a time but no errors.

I do however think its the power supply after reading a post by computersplus.. quotes

The following issues are signs your power supply might not be up to the task:

1. During boot, your machine takes a very long time to get past the POST screen

2. During heavy graphics use, you start getting hard drive errors. The hard drives and the video card both live on the 12V rail and thus if the video card starts pulling too much power it can cause hard drive errors.

3. Memory errors in programs, but when you test the memory it tests clean. This is a similar issue to the second one. The electricity in a computer has to maintain a certain flow and that flow is used to run the memory. If that flow starts spiking around, it will cause memory errors.

4. Random shutdowns and reboots during CPU intensive activity. Like the memory, the CPU has to maintain a certain frequency across its calculations. That frequency is directly related to the voltage the CPU receives, and if this voltage fluctuates too much, the CPU will fail just like memory will. When memory fails, a program will crash, but when the CPU fails, the whole machine crashes.

5. Hangs during boot where POST never even comes up that can then be fixed by resetting the computer, sometimes multiple times. This is the same as the POST problem, where the hardware isn't getting checked properly and hangs while waiting.

6. Your computer starts to boot, but then just shuts down, or gets locked in a loop of constantly trying to boot.

what do you guys think?
I have an ANTEC earthwatts 650 watts powering an intel core 2 quad q6600 with an ATI radeon 4870 2x12volt rails and 4 gb of ram
