Hello,

My computer has been running fine for the most part until I tried running Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition. The game itself ran and I got into the main menu, but when I went through the options and switched full screen mode to on I get a blue screen. I'm pretty much guaranteed this blue screen every time I try to turn it on. Haven't been playing much of anything else recently except for DOTA 2 which runs fine. I did a fresh install of my AMD drivers and still no luck. So I followed the instructions on uploading my system info as instructed. Any help is appreciated.

Hi,

It seems like the crash is still pointing towards atikmdag.sys (The AMD Driver).
The date on the driver is Fri May 23 02:11:53 2014.
I would suggest looking for an updated driver.

Also, I noticed you have DAEMON Tools Lite installed and from what I understand that is known to cause BSOD's.
So I you should uninstall that.

Hope I helped! :)

:ar: Download the 13.9 driver from here then use AMD Uninstall Utility to remove all traces of your current driver, CCC etc. Reboot and install the 13.9 driver for testing purposes.

   Note
When installing choose 'Advanced' or 'Custom' (whichever option is available, just not Express) and uncheck everything except the video driver.

3: Uninstall Daemon Tools, a proven cause of BSODs.

1. Uninstall Daemon Tools.
2. Download the SPTD standalone installer and perform the following steps.
3. Double click the executable to open it.
4. Click the button shown below.

If the button it is grayed out as shown in the image, there is no more SPTD installation on your system and you can just close the window.

I wasn't too far away! Stupid question, how do you insert the code into the post? Also you used the commad lmvm atikmdag and not why lmvm atikmpag. Why was this? It flagged up atikmpag.sys but you looked at atikmdag. Not saying your wrong, just curious where you got this from? :) Trying to learn to debug these so yeah! :)

Use [ code ][ /code] without the spaces wrapped around text to display it as code. There were multiple instances of the ATI drivers, atikmpag and atikmdag are from the same driver package so it doesn't matter which one you run lmvm on.

Hi guys thanks for the responses.

1. No my ssd's shouldnt be in Raid they both independantly run on their own. My C Drive being my OS and my D drive being where I install my favorite games.

2. I uninstalled my driver and installed the 13.9 driver with only the following Ticked:
-AMD Catalyst Install Manager
-AMD Display Driver
-Microsoft Visual C++ 2012(couldn't untick)
-AMD Accelerated Video Transcoding (wasn't sure if this was necessary)

3. Daemon Tools Uninstalled and SPTD showed a grayed out uninstall button.

Still get the bsod

I just ran Borderlands 2 and got the BSOD. I'm just going to assume i'll get it regardless of what game I play now.

If you are not running a RAID setup, uninstall Intel Rapid Storage. First uninstall it from Control Panel > Programs and Features. This one ....
Code:
Start Menu\Programs\Intel® Matrix Storage Manager
Then Uninstall the driver from device manager.

  1. Right click on "My Computer" icon and click "Manage" on the context menu.
  2. It will open the "Computer Management" window.
  3. Select "Device Manager" in the left pane, It will list all the existing devices up.
  4. Expand "IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers" by clicking on the triangle in front of it.
  5. Select one Intel device item under it, right click, uninstall.
  6. Continue the process for all Intel items under "IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers"
  7. Now restart the computer. At restart, Windows will auto configure the appropriate native system driver.

I only found "Intel Rapid Storage Technology" in my Programs and Features, which I assumed was what you were talking about and uninstalled it. In Computer Management I only see the following.

OK. iaStor.sys has been known to cause BSODs so that's a step in the right direction. If you could upload the last BSOD you received I'll take a look, and can you test the system now that Intel Rapid Storage has been removed.

The driver is also dated

Thank you guys for your time I really appreciate it! :)

I believe the driver is dated August of last year because Boozad had me install 13.9 and I believe the current drivers are numbered around 14.9. Before I uninstalled my AMD driver I did try installing 14.9 and still had the BSOD upon loading Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition. I also noticed that when I did install 14.9 I couldn't open Catalyst Control Center after the first BSOD.

*edit* I would also like to note that I do use MSI afterburner to force a constant voltage along with RivaTunerStatisticsServer for FPS and such. (Which I just now uninstalled so I'm uploading a new files just in case it changed anything important)

Yeah I thought that was the case! :) Not familiar with RivaTuner but I am assuming you was slightly overclocking your AMD Card?

Alright I figured out my issue. Considering the situation and when I get the BSOD it obviously had to relate to either my amd drivers or my graphic cards. So I downloaded the amd autodetect tool so it can download the exact driver I need in case I mistakenly installed the wrong one(which I highly doubt) and it still gave me the same 14.9 driver I installed before. I ticked disable Crossfire in the CCC and ran Borderlands 2. Sure enough the game loaded I was actually able to play it as well. I then turned on Crossfire just to see if it was the driver fixing my issue. Borderlands gave me the BSOD on startup. Crossfire ticked off, Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition ran and I was able to fullscreen it.

Thanks again guys for your time I really appreciate it.
