Ok well after believing I could fix the issues on my laptop myself with me being an 2nd year computer science student, and having an decent knowledge of computing. I have finally decided that I need to seek the advice of some others on helping me with this problem. I am back at University now and need to get my laptop functioning properly again as a matter of urgency.

Main issue is that I either get BSOD when i am running my laptop does not seem to occur after I do anything in particular and it can be 1 of a few BSODs or sometimes Windows will lock itself up so I have to turn off the power and then restart when it restarts it will go to load up windows. The windows logo will then show up and then it will BSOD and restart automatically and be stuck like this. It gives me the option to start up repair and restore and will also work in Safe mode if I hit F8 when it boots up. I was informed that if this is so it is usually an driver issue but I was lead to believe that I had downloaded and put on all the latest drivers when I had switched over which I got from the HP website.

http://www.sevenforums.com/crashes-debugging/96879-blue-screen-death-bsod-posting-instructions.html

Task 3 gives me

Error:

An error occured while attempting to generate the report.
The system cannot find the path specified.

Laptop is about 2 years old and originally came with Vista on it I changed this to a version of windows 7 32 bit because Vista kept having trouble with an product key and HP did not want to help me. Also I got a free version of windows 7 through the MSNDAA from University.

Windows 7 pro 32 bit
4 GB RAM
Intel core 2 duo P 7350 @ 2.0 Ghz
8600M GT

Now have also found the file produced and attached it.

Hello and Welcome !

Seems like the Dumps are pointing to Core Windows Files. Lets do some basic steps. Run a Hardware Diagnostic (Memory and Hard Drive) follow this link for instructions Hardware Diagnostic !! « Captain Debugger

Run SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

Uninstall AVG and use the Removal Tool AVG - Download tools also remove Spyware Terminator and install Microsoft Security Essentials.

Update your nVidia HDMI audio driver i.e. nvhda32v.sys seems like it's out-dated. Also look for latest update on jmcr.sys i.e. JMB38X Memory Card Reader Driver if you couldn't find it then get some thing that is compatible with Windows 7.

Ok well I will have to run memtest in the morning now however I have carried out the other 3 things you mentioned in your post.

The SFC /SCANNOW returned fine with no errors.

Uninstalled both and used the remover then Installed microsoft security essentials. Will this keep my laptop secure ?

And last the audio drivers are bundled with the graphics card driver. I have now updated the graphics card data and the HD audio driver to the latest available driver. I have also found and installed an windows 7 driver for the JMB38X Memory Card Reader.

Ok so i ran the memtest and it seemed to give me a whole load of red at the bottom and over 22000 errors and it said 0 pass or something went for like 40 minutes and I am not exactly sure what this means. Is my RAM dead or is it something else that is going on ?

Hello,

I'm afraid it might be your RAM. But you could try with a different slot to make sure it's RAM or DIMM slot. And if you conformed it's RAM then if it covers warranty send for replacement or get a new one.

Well there is now 2 things. 1 is i am not very experienced with Laptops and have tried to open up one before and it was a complete mission and was very hard I do not think I would be able to open it up and test each ram in each of the slots. Secondly I believe it is sealed so if i open it up it will void my warranty.

So I believe my best bet now then is to get onto HP and see what they say about it.

I agree with you. While under warranty, contacting HP is your best choice.
