BSOD Help?

Everytime I boot the system up now, it goes straight into BSOD, so I can't gather all the other data you guys wanted in the "How to post crashes and bugs" thread.

At first, it would BSOD every few hours, or everytime I put in a new stick of RAM. I just wrote it off as faulty RAM, but now I'm thinking there might be something else going wrong here because it's BSOD'ing even with my old RAM.

I was able to get some data off using Blue Screen Viewer before the BSOD'ing became so frequent.

What do you guys think?

I'm on a Compaq SRS5450F desktop PC, if that helps.

have you tried to access safe mode by pressing F8 during boot ?

remove all but one stick of ram ?

It currently runs on 1x1GB RAM. I've tried booting in Safe Mode, no avail.

Yes

You should definitely try re installing widows. See if it works because you might have a hardware problem as well. If it works than you probably dont

winpe is preinstallation environment , gives a simple window with some limited recovery options such as system restore etc, you will see it when you insert your windows disc

In your situation where you have nothing to lose I would try booting the windows disc and try a system restore and possibly recovery, and if that doesn't work then go for a full install with a format

good luck and see you on the other side, let us know how it goes

If you do achieve a stable installation I strongly suggest get all your drivers installed updated and devices working then download a backup tool like Macrium Reflect and take an image and make a Macrium recovery disc so you can experiment with ram with less fatal results
