Hello,

I'm having blue screen errors on my Laptop which is only a couple weeks old and otherwise running fine. The BSODs aren't that many, maybe once a week while using the computer daily. Once it apparently was caused by me plugging in my USB mouse. Already did a memtest and chkdsk without result. Diagnostic tool files are attached. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Hello,

It looks like the first two BSODs were caused by old Razer mouse drivers. Install updated ones from here: Razer Support

Code:
copperhd.sys Tue Nov 10 02:50:17 2009 (4AF91B39)

The last one may have been caused by hardware. Try running the three Prime95 tests: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/100352-hardware-stress-test-prime95.html

Thanks! I have indeed updated the Razer driver between the second and third BSOD, so it makes sense that it was the cause for the first two. Running Prime95 now.

Could you clarify what you mean by the three prime95 tests? I ran the software, left all settings as they were and it was running tests with 4 "workers" for about two hours, yielded 0 errors and 0 warnings.

Thanks! Default setting was blend, so I ran that one for 105 minutes yesterday without errors.

And some more info: The 3rd error occured right after Windows loaded and the desktop appeared without me doing anything. The same happened today. And I never updated the firmware on that Razer mouse, could that be it?

Edit: Ran Small FFTs for 4 hours with 0 errors, 0 warnings.

Ok, blend test 105 minutes, Small FFTs 4 hours, Large FFTs 3,5 hours without errors or warnings. Is that enough?

BSing again

Hi there,

strangely, after several weeks without problems my computer has started blue screening quite badly again. It mostly happens immediately when windows starts. From BlueScreenView, it looks similar to my first blue screens, although I'm pretty sure I haven't made any changes to the mouse drivers/firmware and haven't installed any hardware (other than a virtual dvd drive). If anyone could have a look, that'd be great. Thanks!

Hello,

The dumps still point to the Razer drivers. Do you have another mouse you can try using instead?

No. It seems as if it tends to crash after booting when the mouse wasn't plugged in the last time it booted. I've tried reinstalling the mouse driver. If that doesn't help I guess I'll need a new mouse.

Didn't help. Had more BSODs, although very irregularly. Best bet was to plug in the mouse only after boot process was complete. But I'm getting a new mouse now, a newer Razer. Hope this one won't cause any trouble, otherwise I'll return it and switch to Logitech or something. Again, thanks a lot for your efforts!
