Hey all,

Yesterday I decided to try windows 7 ultimate x64 (full retail, MD5 F43D22E4FB07BF617D573ACD8785C028), and wipe clean all my harddisks. After a slight problem installing it (apparently win7 cannot install when there is more than 1 harddisk present), I began installing drivers and software. Win7 SP1 has been installed. Before this, I ran vista; vista never crashed like this.

When i was about done, I started copying files from this PC to another (also freshly installed win7) old pc. This was a big copy action (couple of gb), while i was also downloading and playing poker. Then suddenly, a BSOD and a reboot. Hour later: again, i think i was only using firefox at that time, doing nothing fancy. This morning, again BSOD when copying from the same HD to that other PC.

So I ran windbg (tried using the symbols, but that failed), and it reports bugcheck 0x0A, process causing the stop, probably NTOSKRNL.exe. But no further information like a certain driver DLL or something.

I've done a chkdsk on the harddisks, nothing found. Done the win7 memory check at boot time (default settings, 2 passes), nothing found.

So finally here I am, hoping someone here can help me. Attached are the files from the "BSOD Dump & System File Collection app", plus in the same zip, the perfmon report.

Further hardware info:
mobo: P35 DS3R F13
cpu: intel Q6600
mem: 4 gig
HDs: seagate 1.5 tb, WD 500 gb + a portable WD elements 1.5 tb.
gfx: geforce 9600 GTX

Thanks in advance for your time :)

Ur minidumps points to Rt64win7.sys ,thats a realtek NIC driver error.
Please download and install CCleaner - Optimization and Cleaning - Free Download
Download the most updadet Software/driver from Realtek

Ok tried to do that, didn't go exactly as planned:

- download ccleaner & realtek driver 7.045 -- check
- uninstall realtek software/driver -- hm, i guess thats the 'uninstall' option in the device manager? -- check
- clean registry -- nothing found to clean except some dotnet 1.0 stuff (ran it before uninstall, and then again after the uninstall) -- check
- install the new driver -> eh.. how? :) what i did now: device manager, scan for hardware changes ; then it automaticly installed the (i guess old) realtek driver (again) , and then i did 'update driver' and browsed the the extracted new realtek driver. So my guess is if ccleaner cleaned anything, it just was undone since win7 automaticly installed the old driver first before i could install the new one.

Anyway, i don't have to reboot apparently, but i'm gonna do it anything, and do some large copy actions with some downloads at the same time, see if a BSOD occurs.

Thanks for your reply, hopefully it works :)

Emmm actually that way you dident exactly clean/unistall anything but you updated the driver, thats ok.
Did you remember the version of the driver before updating?
Thats way we can compare the old version with the new one.
The driver age is 21 Mar 2011,3 months old (not to old)

I did not check the driver date before updating it to the new one. However, now it says its the 7.045 one:

driver date: 5/16/2011
driver version: 7.45.516.2011
driver details, rt64win7.sys: file version 7.045.0516.2011

So except for a typo in their driver version (missing a zero), seems to be the downloaded latest driver from the realtek site.

Meanwhile: rebooted, copied about 1.5 gig to other pc, while downloading at full speed and did some browsing. No BSOD ...yet.. :) Guess time will tell.
