Hi

I've been getting a BSOD error for the last few days, every time I try to use live TV in media centre. I've tried everything and as a final resort restored my laptop to factory settings, it's still occuring.

Here's the details

OS: Win 7 x64 (OEM)
Processor: AMD X2 Dual Core 2.20Ghz
Memory: 4.00GB RAM

Here is the details of the crash:
Problem signature
Problem Event Name: BlueScreen
OS Version: 6.1.7600.2.0.0.768.3
Locale ID: 2057
Extra information about the problem
BCCode: 1
BCP1: 000000007741FF2A
BCP2: 0000000000000000
BCP3: 000000000000FFFD
BCP4: FFFFF88006B5DCA0
OS Version: 6_1_7600
Service Pack: 0_0
Product: 768_1

The TV card I'm using is a Hauppage USB WinTV Nova-TD. (It's only 6 months old, do you think this is the culprit?)

I've attached the files from BSOD sticky.
If anyone can help me I'd really appreciate it.

Kind Regards
Michael

Hi Jonathan

Thanks for getting back to me, really appreciate your help!

I've attached the MiniDump files to this post, I've also updated the Graphics card to the latest one and it still crashes.

I can play recorded TV and have had no other problems with the graphics card, the only time it seems to crash is when it tries to either record or access Live TV in media centre.

Regards
Michael

All three dumps are near identical with a stop error code of 1 and all three blame ehrecvr.exe which is a process belonging to the Microsoft Media Center.

APC_INDEX_MISMATCH (1)
This is a kernel internal error. The most common reason to see this
bugcheck is when a filesystem or a driver has a mismatched number of
calls to disable and re-enable APCs. The key data item is the
Thread->KernelApcDisable field. A negative value indicates that a driver
has disabled APC calls without re-enabling them. A positive value indicates
that the reverse is true. This check is made on exit from a system call.
Arguments:
Arg1: 000000007741ff2a, address of system function (system call)
Arg2: 0000000000000000, Thread->ApcStateIndex << 8 | Previous ApcStateIndex
Arg3: 000000000000fffd, Thread->KernelApcDisable

Win 7 does not like outdated drivers. The can and do cause conflicts and corrupt memory. Try to update these drivers, especially the two dated 2008.

How To Find Drivers:
- I have listed links to most of the drivers in the code box below. Please use the links there to see what info I've found about those drivers.

- search Google for the name of the driver
- compare the Google results with what's installed on your system to figure out which device/program it belongs to
- visit the web site of the manufacturer of the hardware/program to get the latest drivers (DON'T use Windows Update or the Update driver function of Device Manager).

- if there are difficulties in locating them, post back with questions and someone will try and help you locate the appropriate program.

- - The most common drivers are listed on this page: Driver Reference

- - Driver manufacturer links are on this page: Drivers and Downloads
