BSOD, irregular, BC C5

Dear all,

I am experiencing BS with a BC C5 and sometimes, alternatively, total freezing so that I have to switch off the computer. Both happens irregularly. Working memory seems to be OK, tested with MemTest86+. Boot disk SanDisk SC6SF1M128G1022, Data disk WDC WD7500LPCX-80HWST0. Zip file is attached.
Minidumps are for some reason not created anymore (even though settings are correct).

There aren't any .dmp file in your attachment. These are required to analyse the BSOD.

Follow these steps:

1. Configure Windows to create minidumps:

2. Set the paging file on C: to be the same size as the physically installed RAM:

3. Set the Windows Error Reporting service to MANUAL:

4. Test to see that dump files are created:
- Open Windows Task Manager
- Navigate to the Processes tab
- Right-click on explorer.exe, and click Create Dump File

- Note the location of the saved file

- Check that location and confirm that explorer.dmp exists

Thanks a lot, it does exist, but is rather big! 263 MB!

OK. You can delete it - it was just a test to make sure .dmp files can be written to your HDD.

Please do the following:

Run Driver Verifier for 24 hours or the occurrence of the next crash, whichever is earlier.

Driver Verifier will cause your computer to run very sluggishly - this is normal. What it is trying to do is force your system to BSOD and isolate the offending driver/s. When it does, reboot, disable driver verifier, reboot as normal and upload the new dmp file/s here.

I recommend creating a system restore point before turning on driver verifier:

If your system fails to boot to desktop once driver verifier is enabled, turn it off by booting into Safe Mode:

Thank you for this advice. Actually I had driver verifier running in the past for hours and it did not provoke a blue screen or freezing. I even had the impression the system was more stable, even though quite slow. Sorry that I did not mention that from the beginning! Is there an alternative route?

How long did you run Driver Verifier for? Several hours? If so, we can probably rule out a 3rd party driver...although its still a possibility.

How long did you run MemTest86+ for - experience has shown that a minimum of 8 consecutive passes is required to fully tests the RAM.

Verifier for a couple of hours, almost certainly >24h. MemTest did only one pass before I stopped it. Would you recommend to run it overnight?
