OS not found is more likely to be caused by a HDD fault than a RAM fault.

You have identified the problem as a RAM problem, Have you run Memtest86+ or tried re-seating the RAM? Have you re-installed the hard disk, your description makes the fault sound intermittent. Have you scanned the HDD or checked for SMART events.

I would reccomend not dropping the Laptop, especially on hard surfaces :)

It could be caused by quite a few things, but I would say a failing HDD is the most likely suspect at first glance.

Run some hard-drive diagnostics and follow these steps:
Find your hard-drive manufacturer and run their tests.

If you have an SSD, make sure the following are up to date:
  • SSD firmware
  • BIOS Version
  • Chipset Drivers
  • Hard disk controller drivers/SATA drivers
  • If you have a Marvell IDE ATA/ATAPI device, make sure the drivers are up to date from the Intel site or Marvell site and not from your motherboard/vendor support site.

Check for any file system errors and bad sectors using Option #2 of:
Use this command with Disk Check:

Code:
chkdsk C: /f /r
