Yay blue screens of death and lots of them!

They seem to be more common when I'm playing mine craft and listening to music/youtube in background. Not really sure. Just seems to be when it happens. The problem is not usually frequent but I had 3 bsod's today alone.

This computer never used to do it when I had 32 bit windows xp installed.
I have fully updated my gfx card drivers to the latest one from the website and all windows 7 updates have been installed.

New operating system is windows 7 professional 62 bit and was installed near the start of the year.

I included my dxdiag file as well as every mini dump file I've had since installing win7.

Let me know if I need to provide any more information.

Wipe your driver with this.... Guru3D - Driver Sweeper
Then download from Welcome to NVIDIA - World Leader in Visual Computing Technologies...Reboot then reinstall..

Also your next BSOD post it : http://www.sevenforums.com/crashes-debugging/96879-blue-screen-death-bsod-posting-instructions.html

You can view your GPU temp of your VGA card using this while running your minecraft... Should not go over about 75deg.

BSOD - playing minecraft and youtube/music?

Yay blue screens of death and lots of them!

They seem to be more common when I'm playing the computer game called "minecraft" and listening to music/youtube in background. Not really sure. Just seems to be when it happens. The problem is not usually frequent but I had 3 bsod's today alone.

This computer never used to bsod when I had 32 bit windows xp installed.
I have fully updated my gfx card drivers to the latest one from the nvidia website and all windows 7 updates have been installed.

I've used driver sweeper to wipe my drivers and reinstalled the latest ones I could find.

HOWEVER when I use furmark to test everything graphically, the temperature started off as 73'c as a minimum and after only a couple of minutes had risen to 91'c.

New operating system is windows 7 professional 62 bit and was installed near the start of the year. full retail version. Hardware could be a few years old.

zip file includes system health report as well as the Windows_NT6_BSOD_jcgriff2 folder.

Let me know if I need to provide any more information.

nVidia GPUs are supposedly able to operate safely at 105C, according to the manufacturer's site. I wouldn't think 91C while running Furmark is anything to worry about.

In any case, we can't say that it's definitely the problem, as the temps are at 73 normally. 91 was only achieved under stress testing.

I realize those figures are posted by NVIDIA but they are grossly overrated.
Anyone operating in the 100C range is slowly cooking their memory and will eventually burn out their card.

Stock cooling on a card should have it operating (under load in 3-D) in the 70 range, 80s are tolerable, 90s are hot, 100s - your card is on death row
Third-party cooling, if it is any good, should have your card working in the 40s and 50s, possibly low 60s under full load regardless of how long you use the card

I'd still say have a look at your card temp..But please upload the BSOD

8800GT in SLI

GPU 1 Dual cooling 52c idle (fan @60%)
GPU 2 SSC 53 idle (fan @70%)

GPU 1 load (65-67)
GPU 2 load (65-67)

now I changed the configuration and have two separate computers

SSC idle @52c
SSC load @59c to 70c (depending on the games)

dual slot cooling never over 65c under load.

The last one is an 8800GTS 640mb SSC 57c idle (fan at 60%) and 65-70c under load.

By the way, during the winter, temps drop about 5

BSOD has already been uploaded...

As said in PM: the temps are normally in the lower 70s; certainly not a cause for concern. When the GPU hits 91c while being torture tested, it's nothing to worry about.

Ok, Well I've completely replaced that gfx card with a new "GeForce GTX 570". Wiped the drivers before installing it, placed it in, restarted, installed drivers, restarted again. Still been getting blue screens.

The last blue screen had referenced "KS.sys" on it. The bsod before that only had the STOP thing on it.

Sorry for the double post, Does my computer still have drivers on it from when I had 32 bit windows xp installed?(do drivers even carry over when reinstalling operating systems?)

I'm almost inclined to believe that whatever has given me bsods has actually left already and the damage it's left behind is the cause.

How often does completely reinstalling an operating system work, in relation to getting rid of blue screen errors?

new dumps attached.

Well that was helpful; Lavasoft Ad-Aware seemed to have caused those two. Uninstall the program for now; replace with MSE: http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials
