My PC has been running fine for months up until recently whenever I close the Chrome browser, it BSODs. Well, it used to BSOD, now it just throws up multicoloured lines across the screen and then reboots the system.

I downloaded BlueScreenView and it shows the bug check codes are 0x0000003b or 0x00000050 caused by drivers win32k.sys, usbohci.sys, ntoskrnl.exe, 1394ohci.sys and hidusb.sys

It's strange that this has suddenly started happening, as nothing has changed. It also only appears to be chrome that causes this error.

My computer spec is:

Mobo: Asus m4a89gtd pro
CPU: AMD X6 1090t Black Edition
RAM: 4 x 2gb Corsair XMS3
GPU: ATI Radeon 5750
HDD: 120gb Kingston HyperX SSD (This has windows on it)
1TB Hitachi Hard drive

I've read through various threads that have been problems related to Chrome and all seem to point to Memory issues, however I've ran memtest and the windows memory diagnostic tool and it said everything was fine. I've also done check disks on both hard drives. Any advice will be much appreciated.

Hi There,

I'm not getting any specific drivers jumping out at me,

The bugcheck 50 is usually a Memory issue, did you run Memtest86+ for 8 passes?

   Information
MemTest86+

Run a minimum of 8 passes, preferably overnight, or until errors occur using MemTest86+.

Use this tutorial to help you use MemTest86+:
RAM - Test with MemTest86+

I did notice you don't have SP1 installed,

Code:
Host Name: MITCHELL-PC
OS Name: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium
OS Version: 6.1.7600 N/A Build 7600
OS Manufacturer: Microsoft Corporation
OS Configuration: Standalone Workstation
OS Build Type: Multiprocessor Free

You should install SP1 and the other 50+ updates you are missing.

We can follow up after you get fully updated.

Hi Derekimo,

I ran Memtest for 8 passes again and no errors occurred. I've also updated to SP1 and installed the other 100+ updates and it seems to have fixed it, I've not had a crash so far since. I wonder what the issue was.

Thanks!

You're welcome, that's good to hear.

Yes, that's why it's important to keep windows updated, SP1 had performance, stability and security updates.

If things continue to run well you can come back and mark this solved.
