BSOD, multiple causes

hello,
ok this is whats happening , i recently installed 2 extra memory sticks for a total of 4 sticks (8gb of ram), and a WD caviar black 640 gb. my computer was running stable for a year , until a plug in the new stuff and right now i ve been having blue screens probably like 1 every 12 hours. (just a guess cause they are very random) . i contact the memory manufacturer and they gave some settings for my memory type. (ram voltages etc.)

i change the settings and i think it did helped, because it became a bit more stable. (before that it sometimes gave me blue screens while booting or loading windows)

im ataching the dump files, ( i already analyze them but im no expert so i hope u guys can help.)

already did a memtest to each of the new sticks , no errors. and memtest to all 4 sticks also no errors
prime 95 gives errors. (running the last 64 bit prime95 version)

the blue screen errors causes Ntfs.sys , ntkrnlmp.exe , win32k.sys

this are my guesses
PSU generic 400w. but like i tell u it was running fine with 2 sticks, so i dont know if adding 2 extra ones make a lot difference , and havent test a better PSU cause i would need to buy one.
Memory tempeture. (but i guess this would give me errors with memtest right?)

• already did drivers update.
• bios update.
• i have dual boot with vista , blue screens happen in both OS
• bios configuration according to manufacturer suggestions.

Well what kind of graphic card you use ? Cause with such a PSU no doubt something is going to fail unless you have a gt6600 or less...



Also considering the number of ram you are using, you better buy a better PSU right away, BSOD or not.

A generic PSU is asking for trouble. But, I can't tell if it's enough power or not. Can you purchase a decent, brand name PSU (in the 650 watt range) from a merchant with a good return policy? If so, you'll be able to try the new PSU and return it if it doesn't fix things.

BSOD's in both OS's makes me suspect a hardware issue - either with the PSU or with another component.

Please describe the errors you get with Prime95 (I'm not real familiar with errors in it).

Next, Please update or remove these older drivers that were loaded at the time of the crash. Don't use Windows Update or the Update drivers function of Device Manager. Please use the following instructions to locate the most current drivers:

How To Find Updated Drivers:
- search Google for the name of the driver
- compare the Google results with what's installed on your system to figure out which device/program it belongs to
- visit the web site of the manufacturer of the hardware/program to get the latest drivers (DON'T use Windows Update or the Update driver function of Device Manager).
- if there are difficulties in locating them, post back with questions and someone will try and help you locate the appropriate program.

You clearly need a PSU if you're using an ati radeon 3870.

Get a minimum of 500-watt if you want an advice, and try not to use generic PSU. If you want just a normal PSU with nothing fancy, you can try to buy one from a known brand.

I have a generic 600 watt PSU working in a mid-level gaming machine, from ULTRA, and it is working well, it has a minimum of certification for a PSU to be able to run a gtx 9800 properly. It did cost me 80$ canadian dollars, wich is acceptable.(maybe 70-75$ US. (unfortunately I dont have it where I live most of the time!!!, would be nice since mine is also having trouble!)

I cant help that much with BSOD cause I'm new to this on recents windows, (remember windows 95 version a ?) but I can help with others things related to cpu !!!

Hello, sry for taking so long, but i had to shutdown my pc,, ok here is an update. i went back to windows vista, only until i know the problem was fix, cause i figure that windows seven is probably giving me driver bluescreens, so i went back to rule that out.
but after i got a bluescreen in vista , and loaded back into windows , it gave a driver error (driver not found something like that) with my videocard, so i decided to shut it down until i buy a new PSU, yesterday i did , and ran prime95 blend test for about 10 hours and half, with no errors in full settings (before that i had errors in about 20 min or less on this settings memory set to 1066mhz), so im pretty optimistic that the problem is gone. fingers cross
