About once a week my computer shuts down and goes to the BSOD. On a day this happens, it occurs multiple times. I am not very smart when it comes to computers and I've tried to figure out what is going on to the best of my ability.

I did not get the problem details from the most recent BSOD, but in the past this is what it told me...

Problem signature:
Problem Event Name: BlueScreen
OS Version: 6.1.7601.2.1.0.768.3
Locale ID: 1033

Additional information about the problem:
BCCode: f4
BCP1: 0000000000000003
BCP2: FFFFFA8007ED5B30
BCP3: FFFFFA8007ED5E10
BCP4: FFFFF800033D2460
OS Version: 6_1_7601
Service Pack: 1_0
Product: 768_1

Files that help describe the problem:
C:\Windows\Minidump\112012-20732-01.dmp
C:\Users\(My Name)\AppData\Local\Temp\WER-83647-0.sysdata.xm

I don't know what any of this means, but am hoping it's helpful. When it occurred today I came onto this site and used the SF Diagnostic Tool. Hoping I did it right, I've attached the zip file.

Thank you so much for the help!

Uninstall using the free version of Revo Uninstaller, in Advanced Mode. (Allows you to remove leftover registry entries of the program)
Make scans with the following:

-Kaspersky TDSSKiller
-ESET online scanner
Microsoft Security Essentials.
Recommended from a strict BSOD perspective, compatibility & stability compared to other antiviruses/internet security software. It is free and lightweight:-
:ar: Do not start the free trial of Malware Bytes; remember to deselect that option when prompted.

Run a full scan with both (separately) once downloaded, installed and updated.

Perform a System File Check:
  • Click on the start :orb:
  • Type CMD on Search
  • Left click and Run as Administrator
  • Type SFC /scannow

Hard drive

Upload a screenshot of your hard disk using CrystalDiskInfo:
Make a hard drive test from the hard drive manufacturers website:
Run Disk Check on your hard disk for file system errors and bad sectors on it:
Hard drive test both short and long with:
Also the DOS version of:

For monitoring the heat/celsius of the system, use Speccy or HWinfo:

Reduce items at start-up. Nothing except anti-virus is required:

If this does not bring stability, run memtest:

Take memtest. Run for 8 passes and test each stick in a know good slot for an additional 6 passes.

The goal is to test all the RAM sticks and all the motherboard slots.

Check your motherboard manual to ensure the RAM sticks are in the recommended motherboard slots. Some motherboards have very specific slots required for the number of RAM sticks installed.

If you get errors, stop the test and continue with the next step.

1. Remove all but one stick of RAM from your computer (this will be RAM stick #1), and run Memtest86 again, for 7 passes.
*Be sure to note the RAM stick, use a piece of tape with a number, and note the motherboard slot.
If this stick passes the test then go to step #3.

2. If RAM stick #1 has errors, repeat the test with RAM stick #2 in the same motherboard slot.
*If RAM stick #2 passes, this indicates that RAM stick #1 may be bad. If you want to be absolutely sure, re-test RAM stick #1 in another known good slot.
*If RAM stick #2 has errors, this indicates another possible bad RAM stick, a possible motherboard slot failure or inadequate settings.
3. Test the next stick of RAM (stick #2) in the next motherboard slot.
*If this RAM stick has errors repeat step #2 using a known good stick if possible, or another stick.
*If this RAM stick has no errors and both sticks failed in slot#1, test RAM stick #1 in this slot.
4. If you find a stick that passes the test, test it in all the other motherboard slots.

If Part 2 testing shows errors, and all tests in Part 3 show errors, you will need to test the RAM sticks in another computer and/or test other RAM in your computer to identify the problem.

In this way, you can identify whether it is a bad stick of RAM, a bad motherboard, or incompatibility between the sticks.
   Information
Errors are sometimes found after 8 passes.

   Tip
Do this test overnight, before going to bed.

I uninstalled the programs you listed, but forgot to do it with the uninstaller. For a while things were good and I thought maybe the problem was fixed. Just recently it happened again but definitely not as frequent. Now I'm going to look at the hard drive and will upload a picture as soon as I can.

The details for the most recent BSOD were the same as before.
Do you know what "Minidump" means? Or what these either of these files are?

Files that help describe the problem:
C:\Windows\Minidump\112012-20732-01.dmp
C:\Users\(My Name)\AppData\Local\Temp\WER-83647-0.sysdata.xm

Thanks!

I'm back to having problems again. After deleting Trend, McAfee, and Norton my computer was working great. Now in the last couple of days it has started to shut down again.

If it happens when I'm playing music or watching something it starts to sounds and shuts down to the black screen where it asks if I want to start it up again in Safe Mode, Regular, etc. Sometimes it will go to the blue screen, sometimes it wont.

Right now I'm doing a System File Check and next will be looking at the hard drive.

Not sure if this helps, but the info it gave me was...

Problem signature:
Problem Event Name: BlueScreen
OS Version: 6.1.7601.2.1.0.768.3

Additional information about the problem:
BCCode: f4

C:\Windows\Minidump\050613-17378-01.dmp
C:\Users\(My Name)\AppData\Local\Temp\WER-84256-0.sysdata.xml

Similar to what it's been in the past but not exactly the same. Not sure if these different numbers make a difference.

Thanks so much!

Also I don't know if this is helpful, but my soundcard is having a lot of problems. If I have music playing and then use the internet the sound gets scratchy. Or if I have a youtube video loaded, Spotify won't play a song because it says my soundcard isn't working.
