It won't stay on long enough to get info required here.

one update is that without OS HDD attached it won't stay on so it has to be a hardware fault???

gigabyte assessed board recently and found a bent pin on cpu socket which they fixed. they suggested it could be the memory so I replaced the memory and it worked fine after this for about 3 months.

now it has gone back to the issues listed in my first post.

Hi axe0

this is the log zip file of the computer, I have managed to get the computer on although it has done a blue screened once and some sort of update.

All I have done to get it back to the desktop is to disconnect two USB header cables, one firewire extension cable, two case fans, the CDRW and then I have removed a few of the power supply cables that were in the way and not leading to anything any more.

any ideas from the zip file

thanks ehe

You are running an HP Product ID on a Gigabyte board.
This makes your installation counterfeit.
Troubleshooting a counterfeit installation is useless as it is not known what has been modified
Code:
OS Manufacturer: Microsoft Corporation
OS Configuration: Standalone Workstation
OS Build Type: Multiprocessor Free
Registered Owner: jon
Registered Organization:
Product ID: [COLOR="Red"]00426-OEM-8992662-00010[/COLOR] <-- HP Product ID on Gigabyte board.
Original Install Date: 16/10/2015, 23:53:32
System Boot Time: 23/10/2015, 00:20:26
System Manufacturer: Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd.

If the product ID was fine, I couldn't help you further because of other bypasses on your system.

Install a genuine copy of Windows 7 and remove any bypass on your system.
If you, after installing a genuine copy and removing any bypass, still receive BSOD's, I'll gladly help you.

I have finally solve the problem with my computer. I had what appears to be a self triggering (mechanical) reset switch (go figure). There is very little on the internet on this issue, probably due to all the other issues people go to first eg PSU, memory. What also made this a frustrating process was every time I moved memory or power I probably knocked cable which made a temporary improvement. Hope this takes away from someone else's pain. Solution removed the reset cable from the motherboard . No more problems
