BSOD - New Install

AS title says, I've been experienced BSODs on pc, I've just installed win 7 omePremium x64 (clean installation). I've managed to installed my Wifi in safe mode since its the only wat I can get it to work, but it seems something is causing conflict with it, cuz if not on internet no BSODs (seems like it)

Hi and welcome

this crash was probably caused by nvlddmkm.sys. Your video driver I would uninstall it and re-install a new copy
I would also run a system file check to verify and repair your files
type cmd in search>right click and run as admin>SFC /SCANNOW

Thanks for your reply. I have unistalled video driver im running for now 800*600 since theres no driver installed no BSODs at this moment.

I now going to proceed and install the latest video driver shown on nvidia page which is the 195.62_desktop_win7_winvista_64bit_english_whql

After installing latest chipset + video driver, ran "SFC /SCANNOW", restarted the pc and cpus are at 80-90% and connectivity is lmited, have to force restart.

any ideas what can I do?? im planning on getting a new gfx card to see if my current is the problem.

Thanks usasma, I've ordered a new graphic card from eBay, is a GeForce 9500GT 512MB, nothing fancy since what I do most on pc is Photo editing using Photoshop, Corel, a little bit of Audition. So I guess with this Card should do, I have noticed I would have to upgrade my psu, since HP's PSU are very low, this is 300Watts, the minimum recommended for this card. I will reporta back by the weekend when gfx arrives! Danke!

PSU recommendations are based on averages - so if what's in your system isn't average, then you may not have the correct sized PSU.

Here's a link to a PSU calculator. I suggest adding to what it says, at least 25 %, to make sure that you've got enough wattage tho'. I doubled the wattage for my system, and have no regrets about it.

But the CPU going all the way up to 99% still is a problem, I;ve noticed it only happens when connect to the internet (I connect myself via wireless).

I'have install the latest driver available, install via safe mode, normal install, vista mode,etc,, none seems to work. Also I've tried a diferrent adapter via usb, same problem, either one I use, got the same damn problem. Looks to me like 7 does not like wireless..

latest drivers for chipset, grafix, sound, are installed, can find any logical solution

Well after reading a few post over the internet, I've found a hotfix, which for about 20 minutes has give me no slow down or dropping my internet connection. Seems to be the "cure" for all this issues related to wireless LAN and USb problems on HP mobos with Nvidia Chipset, Hope this could help anybody else.

Here I do copy an paste the information.

HP has submitted a software update (SoftPaq SP44620) to HP Customer Care containing Microsoft's QFE KB976972 update to resolve USB issues on certain HP consumer desktop systems:

1) System is running Windows 7
2) System has an nVidia chipset
3) System has 4GB of RAM or more

The update has been submitted to and is in process to appear on the software and driver download page for the affected systems, however here is a direct link to download it now:

Customers who have already downloaded the QFE update from Microsoft's support site do not need to reapply it.

Problem apparently has been solved, been running win 7 for about 12 hours, no slowdown, no internet drop, no BSODs!!

Also been reading about this hotfix KB976972 I do here paste the link if anyone else is having this kind of problem.


If your Windows 7 consistently freeze or crash when copy files to USB hard disk or USB flash drive, download and apply the latest Microsoft Hotfix filed under article ID 976972 might be the solution. However, this KB976972 hotfix only applicable to computer that uses:

• 32/64-bit Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2
• NVIDIA USB Enhanced Host Controller Interface (EHCI) chipset
• at least 4GB of RAM

more info: You encounter problems when you move data over USB from a Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2-based computer that has an NVIDIA USB EHCI chipset and at least 4GB of RAM
