Hello there,

New member, desperately needing some help. I've been wanting a gaming PC for a while, so a few friends told me what parts to buy and assembled everything for me. Unfortunately, I've had nothing but problems with my machine ever since I turned it on...

At first I received this BSoD: win32k.sys.
This this one: MEMORY_MANAGEMENT.

I found a simple fix that stopped giving me the BSoD for a while and finally let me play Borderlands. Also, I updated my NVIDIA drivers, which solved some other issues I was seeing.

WELL now I have some new BSoD's...

On September 13th I got, "system_service_exception." Just now (a few minutes ago), I got, "no page_fault_in_nonpaged_area."

I.T. members from my workplace tested the computer and ran the memory test, as well as some other test. No problems were found. Hence why I don't think it's faulty memory.

Can anyone help please?

I've attached the mini dump files (2).

Welcome

Please upload your msinfo32.nfo file. To get this:

  • Click on the Start :orb:
  • Type msinfo32 into the Search programs and files box
  • When it opens, go to File, Save
  • Save as msinfo32.nfo and save in a place you will remember
  • Let it finish the process of gathering and saving the system info
  • Right click the .nfo file, click send to compressed (zipped) folder
  • Upload the .zip file here.

The dumps don't give specific cause but one does show memory corruption.

The bug checks that you are getting and the causes are

STOP 0x00000050: PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA BSOD Index

Usual causes: Defective hardware (particularly memory - but not just RAM), Faulty system service, Antivirus, Device driver, NTFS corruption, BIOS

STOP 0x0000003B: SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION BSOD Index

Usual causes: System service, Device driver, graphics driver, memory

I suggest memtest again following the link below for 8 passes (preferably overnight):
:ar: Guide to using Memtest86+ - Geeks to Go Forums

Will await the msinfo file.

I have attached the file you mentioned.

Since the usual causes for the SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION BSoD error are mostly drivers, I think I may have fixed that when I updated the NVIDIA drivers. I haven't had that BSoD since September 13th.

I really help it's not faulty hardware, it seems to always go back to that... This computer is barely over a week old...

I'll try the Memtest86+.

I can't do the Memtest86+ because it doesn't burn correctly to my CD as BOOT.

I have done as you requested, uninstalled Avira and downloaded Microsoft Security Essentials instead.

I believe my wording wasn't right...

It's not that I don't wish to run the memory test, it's that it just won't burn the way it's meant to so it can actually do anything. I'll try to burn it from work, but I use a Mac there, so I'll see what I can do. And apologies for using the word request instead of suggestion?

Okay, no problem and sorry if I sound frustrated.
Having rough experiences with some OPs recently in this section.

Anyway, you can also try getting the memtest thing from a friend if possible.
Take all time required and come back to the thread.

No worries, I understand. I just want to make sure you know that I greatly appreciate all your help so far, because if it wasn't for you, I wouldn't know where to start. Google search can only get me so far.

Actually, I think I figured out why I can't burn the program correctly to a CD, maybe you can guide me in the right direction. I follow the instructions in the link you provided, but when I download the file, it doesn't give me a memtest.iso to burn. All it gives me is: a memtest86+-4.20.iso.zip file. Within the zip file there's a mt420.iso file. Within that, there's a BOOT folder with BOOT.CAT and MEMTEST.IMG. I burned the mt420.iso file to a CD but that wasn't it.

Attached are the minidump files I recently got.

Thank you, copying everything to a USB is a much simpler process! Though it doesn't boot up from the USB when I restart. I went into the BIOS Advanced settings and changed the primary boot-up to be USB-FDD, USB-HDD, and USB-ZIP. None of those prompted the USB to start up first and run the test.

Sorry for all these questions :(

I did follow it exactly before posting (by reading the instructions many times over), but that didn't help. I haven't experienced another BSoD for a few days, so I hope they've been resolved... Thanks for all your patience.

You're welcome
Probably it was the antivirus you were using. But lets see.

If you get more blue screens, come back to this thread.

I've received even more BSoD. There's less frequent, but still there. Some have been the page fault in nonpaged area, as well as system service exception 0x0000003B.

I'm going to go ahead and buy new memory... because every BSoD I keep getting seems to always go back to memory. I can't even run the memory86 test because it doesn't seem to work properly for me (it doesn't launch on either CD or USB. I know it's me doing something wrong, but I don't know what).

Would you recommend buying the exact model I already have:

Amazon.com: Corsair Memory 8 Dual Channel Kit DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM CMX8GX3M2A1600C9: Electronics

Or something different?

Hi, let enable driver verifier before you make a decision.

Driver Verifier
I'd suggest that you first backup your data and then make sure you've got access to another computer so you can contact us if problems arise. Then make a System Restore point (so you can restore the system using the Vista/Windows 7 Startup Repair feature).

In Windows 7 you can make a Startup Repair disk by going to Start....All Programs...Maintenance...Create a System Repair Disc - with Windows Vista you'll have to use your installation disk or the "Repair your computer" option at the top of the Safe Mode menu .

Then, here's the procedure:
- Go to Start and type in verifier and press Enter
- Select Create custom settings (for code developers) and click Next
- Select Select individual settings from a full list and click Next
- Select everything EXCEPT FOR Low Resource Simulation and click Next
- Select Select driver names from a list and click Next
Then select all drivers NOT provided by Microsoft and click Next
- Select Finish on the next page.

Reboot the system and wait for it to crash to the Blue Screen. Continue to use your system normally, and if you know what causes the crash, do that repeatedly. The objective here is to get the system to crash because Driver Verifier is stressing the drivers out. If it doesn't crash for you, then let it run for at least 36 hours of continuous operation (an estimate on my part).

If you can't get into Windows because it crashes too soon, try it in Safe Mode.
If you can't get into Safe Mode, try using System Restore from your installation DVD to set the system back to the previous restore point that you created.
Driver Verifier - Enable and Disable

Verifier puts extreme stress on the drivers, bad ones will cause BSOD. If we change all those drivers we hope for no more BSODs, If you get no BSODs, then its not a driver and we look to hardware. With verifier on your computer may be a little laggy, but actually..its just doing its work.

Information

Driver Verifier runs in the background, "testing" drivers for bugs. If it finds one, a Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) will result; the corresponding dump file will hopefully show the faulty driver.

Driver Verifier monitors kernel-mode drivers and graphics drivers to detect illegal function calls or actions that might corrupt the system. It can subject the drivers to a variety of stresses and tests to find improper behavior.

Continue to use your system normally, and if you know what causes the crash, do that repeatedly. The objective here is to get the system to crash because Driver Verifier is stressing the drivers out. If it doesn't crash for you, then let it run for at least 36 hours of continuous operation.
