Hey Guys,
I've got some problems with my laptop.
when i'm surfing and listening to music (without music too) i sometimes get BSOD.
I hadn't one since thuesday, but yesterday three in 15mins.
They often are caused by kernel datas or .sys parts.

My laptop is a 3 year old Lenovo Thinkpad T61 7663-13g:
Intel Core 2 Mobile T7500 2.2Ghz
4GB Ram
120GB HDD
NVidia Quadro NVS 140M
OS is Windows 7 Professional 64Bit (original Vista Business, but works with 7 since one year)

The mainbord (with grafics card) got replaced a half year ago, so there won't be the "nvidia bug" inside.

I have tried to work just with one part of Ram, but i still have BSODs, no matter which one is into the laptop.

I think, the HDD could be the problem. Sometimes normal programs like the Explorer.exe, ThinkVantage Tools or the Media Player are crashing.
The HDD has 8200hours on power and is three years old, but i can't find any errors or things like that at the S.M.A.R.T datas in HD-Tune, i've done a error check und installed windows new, too.

So i hope, you can help me.

ntoskrnl.exe is part of windows, it won't cause crashes but other drivers do

Thanks for the answer.
I've updated now ADIHdAud.sys und uninstalled the PROCDD.sys, because i don't need the manager.

But i can't find psadd.sys. At your webside it's called "Lenovo Parties Service Access Device Driver (SMBIOS)", so is it the Bios or a driver for something?

Edit: Had a BSOD again.

Edit2: Here are some new MiniDumps of the last BSODs, maybe you can see there something new

It's most likely a driver. FWIW - I have a T61 also, and it's a royal pain to find anything for it without installing the drivers. I don't ever recommend upgrading Windows - but when I upgraded my T61 to Win7, I had to upgrade because I was unsure of what drivers were needed/unneeded.

I'll post back in a few minutes after I look at mine....

I have checked all of the possible drivers at the Lenovo website and haven't found anything!!!
Please let me know the following:
- any ThinkPad/Lenovo software installed on your system - either from the Start menu, or from the Control Panel...Programs...Uninstall a program listing
- right click on the psadd.sys file (located in C:\Windows\System32\drivers folder) and select "Properties".
Then select the Details tab and let us know what it says there.

Original data name: psadd.sys

I hope you can find out more.

Edit: I'll run the diagnosics.

I've also found this driver on my Desktop system - and it doesn't have anything from Lenovo installed on it.
I suggest we hold off doing anything with this driver for now. If everything else checks out, then we can try some things. I've looked at all the Lenovo stuff on their website and haven't found the psadd.sys driver.

Here's a copy of the psadd.sys from my Win7 SP1 x64 system - it's dated from 2011. DO NOT try to install it on your system yet!!! I would suggest updating all of your drivers from the Lenovo website, then installing Service Pack 1 to see if that updates the psadd.sys driver.

Update video drivers from the nVidia website (yours are from 2008/2009): NVIDIA DRIVERS 270.61 WHQL
One of the last 3 dumps hints at video issues (the others are hardware and memory corruption)

Uninstall WinRing software (it dates from 2008 also). I have no clue what program that these belong to - but you may be able to tell by browsing processes with Process Explorer (free here: Process Explorer)
And enable the Lower Pane with the Handles view - and see if you can find any reference to WinRing.

If you feel daring, set a system restore point and then rename the WinRing0x64.sys to WinRing0x64.BAK
Reboot and see what happens. Once you discover what program it belongs to, please post back here and then name it back to .sys

You can do the same thing with psadd.sys - but DON'T do it until you're sure the system is stable with the renamed WinRing0x64.BAK file.

OLDER DRIVERS PRESENT IN THE DUMP FILES
- Create a System Restore Point prior to doing any of this. DO NOT mess with the drivers themselves - leave the Windows\System32\drivers directory alone unless we specifically direct you to it!
- Please update these drivers from the device manufacturer's website - or uninstall them from your system. Reference links are included below.
- DO NOT use Windows Update or the Update Drivers function of Device Manager.
- Please feel free to post back about any drivers that you are having difficulty locating.
- Windows Update exceptions may be noted below for Windows drivers:

So,i've updated now the nVidia driver.

The winring driver depends to one of my sidebar gadgets,i have uninstalled they all yesterday for testing, weather they cause the BSODs, but after uninstalling them i had one, too.
it's this:OrbLog » Blog Archive » Intel Core Series – Sidebar Gadget
(i have this on my desktop, too, and there aren't any BSODs).

Now i'll test the psadd.sys.

After deaktivating the psadd.sys the part-manager showed me,that there isn't a driver installed for SM-Bios-service. 10min later,i got a BSOD,I've linked it.

The dump file blames your touchpad/trackpoint driver.
Update it from the Lenovo website to see if that stops the BSOD (it may or may not, we're experimenting here).
If it doesn't stop it, then rename psadd.BAK back to psadd.sys and see if that fixes it.

Also, please update your Card Reader driver. It'll still be dated from 2007, but we'll be sure that any corruption has been overwritten when you reinstall it.
