Hi! iv'e had a problem for some time now. my computer is not that old and its not a cheap one either. it have worked all allong but suddenly it started to get bluescreens when i tried to play bf3. It also happened when i was doing regular stuff on the computer like surfing the web and listen to music. I suspected some loose shit inside so i went over all the parts etc. I must also add that the problems started to occure some time after i installed a new soundcard but there was nothing wrong in the beginning. I have no clue about the problem and pardon my explenation but the BSOD happens so randomly that i get so confused. some times often and some times i get thru the day without incidents.

Though it says the probable cause is an unknown one, but at the same time it says that it is having some trouble with dealing AVG. And in a deep check of dump data, there are a lot of fileinfo.sys and fltmgr.sys errors, which are very often caused by AVG's file system monitoring procedure.

Uninstall AVG using AVG Remover. Use Microsoft Security Essentials as your antivirus with windows inbuilt firewall, and free MBAM as the on demand scanner.
Download, install and update those, and then run full system scans with both of them, one by one.

Daemon Tools, Alcohol 120% and Power Archiver Pro uses SCSI Pass Through Direct (SPTD), which is a well known BSOD causer. Uninstall Daemon Tools at first. Then download SPTD standalone installer from Disk-Tools.com, and execute the downloaded file as guided below :

  • Double click to open it.
  • Click this button only:
  • 2012-12-13_224441.jpg
  • If it is grayed out, as in the picture, there is no more SPTD in your system, and you just close the window.
Free up the startup.

  1. Click on the Start button
  2. Type “msconfig (without quotes), click the resulting link. It will open the System Configuration window.
  3. Select the “Startup” tab.
  4. Deselect all items other than the antivirus.
  5. Apply > OK
  6. Accept the restart.
Let us know the results.
