I just installed a fresh install because I couldn't figure out the BSOD causes on my old build.

New install is pretty basic, but I just can't get a stable system to save my life. WhoCrashed suggest its a driver issue, but could it be a hardware problem?

Memory and HDD tested fine.

It doesn't crash doing any task. Its all random. On the desktop without anything running, watching a movie, etc.

Now I got a crash from video card files. I'm using the latest driver on a fresh rebuild. My computer was stable and now I can't even get a stable fresh reload.

Could a hardware problem cause all my woes? This is the first time I have never been able to figure out a problem and its driving me nuts.

Okay, problem found. Kinda embarrassing. The power cables for the v-card were brushing up against the cables for the hard drive when I close the case (swing up side style), so no amount of resetting would fix anything, cause it was getting pulled out ever so slightly when I closed the case back up. I was able to smash the cables below the hard drive cage and reset the hard drive cable. So far so good and the performance monitor is now clear of errors too.

I'm going to mark this fixed. I've pushed video, audio, file transfers. Its way more stable.

ICit2lol, thanks for your help. I don't over clock and I set my bios to speed up the fan if the temps go up, so I didn't load that app you suggested. The errors were so random and all over the place, I kind of narrowed it down to the hard drive.

I also tried a old school trick of remounting the ram over and over again to clean any surface dirt and I got a stick back that was failing a memory test. Got all my ram passing last night (different thread for anyone who remembers).

Well done mate look sometimes the hardest problems have the simplest cause and you are not the first and certainly will not be the last:D When you have made as many mistakes as I have then be afraid be VERY afraid LOL!!

That app mate still install it as it is a very handy tool for diagnosing and finding specs and if you want and have a look at this tutorial I use it on all my machines and fixes if you don't mind losing some of the "bling" like transparency and shadows under cursors etc

For cleaning the RAM slots I use a small strip cut from a credit card say an inch wide and with the corners neatly trimmed off with some lint free cloth over the end (microweave is good the one for glass - not fluffy) on it slightly dampened with an alcohol and gently wipe along the slots same goes for the stick contacts:)
