Hello Fellow Computer Techies,

Have been experiencing Random BSODs on my new 3930K build. Total of 5 BSODs in the last 2 months at no particular time. Have run Prime95 and Intel burn test for many hours at end of build with no BSODs.

This is a brand new 64bit Win7 install. System is running very cool (32-35F). From what I read this exception might be caused by hardware issues? Anyone with more knowledge have time to take a look at a Minidump and help point me in the right direction? Thank you in advance.

Welcome to Seven Forums djohan.

I'm not the BSOD debugger you're looking for, but yes the 0x124 error is hardware related, where is a mystery. First they will ask you to uninstall AVG as it is a cause of blue screens very often, and install MSE, link in my sig.

To better help us to help you would you please add your systems specs? Here's the correct way to do it. :SystemInfo See Your System Specs Under System Manufacturer/Model Number add whether it is a desktop or laptop and whether self built. Very important

Log in to Seven Forums and you will be able to transfer the info directly to the specs page in your profile from within the System Info app.

Your System Specs here.

After doing this your specs will be available in each of your posts.
Click on My system Specs in the lower left of this post to see how it should look.:)
Full instructions are in the tutorial.

Some hardware tests to run.

Hard drive(s)test(s):
Pick one for your HDD brand or use Seatools. Skip this on the SSD, only for HDDs.
7 Free Hard Drive Testing Software Tools

RAM (memory) test:
This will require memtest on a bootable CD or USB stick.
RAM - Test with Memtest86+

Looks like a lot, take one step at a time.

After much investigating it looks like the issue might have been that Vcore was too low. Originally had the computer 12 hour prime95 and Intel Burn test stable at 4.2 with offset Vcore of 1.288.

That was 2 months ago and everything was running great until i started getting random BSODs last week and constant BSOD's when running Acronis 2013 backup.

Changed AVG to MSE and kept getting BSODs when running Acronis backup. Played with Memory setting and lowering clocks and finally got stable in Prime again so decided to put the Multiplier back to 42X100 and memory back to 2400 then slowly deducted .0005 at a time from negative offset running Prime95 after each subsequent reboot. Finally got stable after changing Offset from negative .070 to .040.

Bonus Achievement Unlocked! : After pushing up the vcore by changing the negative offset was able to push up the Multiplier and get stable at 4.4gig at a Vcore of 1.318 on air!

At Speed step throttling am at 1.2 gig with a Vcore of .808 volts and temps of 32-34F. When the system turbo clocks up to 4.4 Vcore goes up to 1.318 and temps hover around 45-48F. Sweet!

Got a Passmark rating of 5836 and CPU rating of 15183!

Strange that a stable system went unstable after 2 months time? Guess that the CPU, Motherboard and Memory had to "settle in"? Curious if anyone else has ever come across this before. Will keep a eye on things and see if we stay stable.

Computers do what they want at times. I've had mine stable for weeks at 4.6GHz, then started getting BSODs too. I adjusted my offset to -.30 from -.05 and set the multiplier at 100x44 and it's stable again.
