BSOD on boot of DELL N5010 Laptop (ATIKMPAG.SYS)

Hi guys

Have had to reinstall windows 7 due to an error keep coming up.

This error was random and had only started coming up as of last month.

Laptop is about 5 or 6 years old which made me wonder if it could be a hardware problem.

Anyway, I reinstalled windows and everything was running well until I installed the video drivers which are the ATI ones. Then after every boot it loops with the same BSOD.

This made me wonder if it could be hardware maybe?? Its almost like installing the drivers is putting more strain on the GPU causing it to overheat maybe? Therefore would I be better to apply the paste onto the GPU and maybe change the fan?

If this is software related I wondered if anyone can find me a set of drivers where this doesn't happen.

Last night I tried quite a few methods people were suggesting on expanding the .sys file and putting it back into system32 but i still got the BSOD. I have attached a screenshot of the bsod to this message so please take a look.

By the way i dont think i can use the BSOD tool because it happens at boot and then I can't get back into windows to retrieve the log file cos it is cycle booting.

The video driver MAY be the issue.
There are Intel Video and AMD/ATI video drives on the Dell downloads. Suggest you start with the Intel Motherboard Chipset driver and then the correct video driver from Dell.

I have actually already tried it but it didnt make any difference to the graphics unfortunately.

Which ones would be needed...

Intel HD Graphics Media Accelerator Driver or Intel Wireless Display Connection Manager Driver. I think I tried both... Ill try again and let u know

There apparently are two models of the N5010. One model uses the Intel video and another model has an AMD video "card".
Access the Dell downloads using your service tag number. It will then list all applicable drivers for your specific model, as it was originally built.
