I have a problem with my HP Pavilion DV6t-7000 Quad Edition laptop, I'm dualbooting ubuntu and recently I haven't been able to get back into windows. I'm using the grub bootloader and have been able to get into windows in the past.

booting to safemode works

Attached is the list of files that were dumped in the most recent BSOD, I went in to safemode and used BlueScreenView to get them.

What i've tried:
Startup repair
Install disk repair
Booting with no external devices attached

Any help is greatly appreciated :)

Also- I'm fairly tech savy, so if you want me to get any information or logs from my system just ask!

Boot to System Recovery Options . Try Safe Mode with Command Prompt. In the command prompt .... enter the command ....

start msconfig

It will open the system configuration window, with the "general" tab selected.

  • Click the "startup" tab. Click "Disable all" > Apply > OK.
  • Click on "services" tab. Check the "Hide all Microsoft Services"; Click "Disable all" > Apply > OK
Then try to boot again normally. Is it failing still? Follow it:

Or, run Startup Repair for three separate times, with restarts after every single run.

Hey Arc, thanks so much for your reply!

I completed your procedures, did the startup repair 3x, and got to step 8 on troubleshooting windows. I had system restore disabled so that wouldn't work, this time however, I got a new BSOD error, this time it had a file name there, sthda64.sys. What next?
