Hi,

I am getting BSOD on my dell Studio 1558, I used to get this very frequently before upgrading graphics driver. After the upgrade the frequency reduced a lot. Yesterday it crashed again with BSOD, I followed instructions in post: http://www.sevenforums.com/crashes-debugging/105582-dell-studio-1558-bsod-once-per-day.html and traced the problem to Rapport software. Uninstalled it.. and it was fine for some time. today, Again it crashed... :(

This time again i enabled verifier, and waited till it crashed. Attaching the dump with verifier on. Some help to analyze this is much appreciated.

Is Windows 7 . . .
- x64 ?
- re installed using DVD provided by dell
- an OEM version

- What is the age of system (hardware)? 171 days
- What is the age of OS installation : around 3 months

Also, a thing to note is laptop heats a lot in touch pad area and bottom. CPU temperatures are around 56-78 C.

Please help.

Hi there!

Sorry for the delay. NO need to worry, this can actually be solved by following these things:
First of all, please remove Zone Alarm:
ZoneAlarm uninstaller - removal tool available

Please remove any CD virtualization programs such as Daemon Tools and Alcohol 120%. They use a driver, found in your dmp, sptd.sys, that is notorious for causing BSODs. Use this SPTD uninstaller when you're done: DuplexSecure - Downloads

Remove Avira, stop code 7F can be typically caused by 3rd party firewall or antivirus
Avira Antivirus Solution - Download AntiVir Removal Tool
Replace by MSE:
http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials

BUGCHECK SUMMARY:
Code:
BugCheck 7F, {8, 80050031, 6f8, fffff80002a9bec0}

Probably caused by : ntkrnlmp.exe ( nt!KiDoubleFaultAbort+b2 )

Followup: MachineOwner

Regard,

Tuan

A comment on the question about the Dell Win 7 DVD. It is an OEM version and the Dell supplied disc will only install on a Dell system (must see a Dell BIOS). Other than that, it is no different than any other OEM version, and and OEM version only differs from a full Retail version as the OEM is only legally licensed for the system it is initially installed on and there is no "free" software support from Microsoft for an OEM version.

Dell also includes a recovery partition on the hard drive, accessed by F8 at power on that will allow you to restore the PC to the original factory condition and no discs are needed. In additon F12 at power on will allow you to access the Dell hardware diagnostics, and they should be run to rule out any potential hardware problems.

Hi,

I have a friend who has a very similar problem except that now the computer throws the issue when windows 7 is starting (before you can even select a session).
Of course the computer is a Dell Studio 1558 and my question is would it be possible to perform the same kind of action somehow with some sort of boot tools or something ?
