Hello experts,

My system keep crashed soon after upgrading from vista x-64 into win7 x64. It happens everytime I tried to shutdown/restart the system (which badly required while updating the windows or installing softwares).

Attached is the dump files along with the perfmon check results.
The system is originally vista x64 and upgraded by retail version of win7 x64.

Thanks in advance for any help

Your first .dmp file blames stwrt64.sys (SigmaTel High Definition Audio Codec) as the cause for your crash.. Download the latest version from http://download.cnet.com/SigmaTel-High-Definition-Audio-CODEC/3000-2110_4-173629.html

Your second .dmp file blames umbus.sys (User-Mode Bus Enumerator) which is a core system file and is not likely to be the specific cause.. It also mentions hpdskflt.sys (HP Mobile Data Protection System Disk Filter) Download the latest version from HP® - Laptops, Desktop, Printers, Servers, and more

Tews/anyone,

I wonder why but my system could not be shut down again now.
Here are some stuffs I did last time:
- install some free apps (pdf writer, etc)
- install HP Office Jet 8500 (failed to recognize my WLAN connected printer, then uninstalled)
- install Tune Up Utilities 2010 (failed)
Then the system keep giving me BSOD each time it restarts/shutdowns
Attached is the DMP files along with BSOD analysis results (which I don't understand how to read).

Thanks in advance

The .dmp file is blaming umbus.sys as the reason, but as this is a core OS file, it is unlikely to be the real culprit.. Interestingly, there were some issues with hpdskflt.sys which is HP Mobile Data Protection System Disk Filter, which you said failed during installation... Manually delete this driver from your computer..

Both of the outdated drivers are suspect!!

Hi,

Tom (Tews) was right when he told you to remove HP Smart Protection guard. First of all its driver is from 2008 and is out of date for window 7, so basically even if you succesfully install it on your computer, in a nice day it will crash.
Stop code 9F is almost always driver related.

Another thing I could think of is that you also have Avira in your system, and you are trying to install another protection program which may cause conflict sometime. I'm not sure what is HP smart protection guard, but I have seen some system crash when they try to use 2 or 3 firewall and AV at the same time (not include poor coded program). You can try to remove Avira to see if you will be able to install HP smart protection.
http://www.avira.com/en/support/antivir_removal_tool.html

I also see that you have some other out of date drivers, so please update them:

I tried to dive the web to find updates for those 2 guys (modem and USB filter but unsuccessful).
Maybe I better revert back to vista now to avoid much more headache.
