BSOD on launch for 2 days now, pc only starts in safe mode or with graphics card disabled (NVidia GeForce GTX 460). Tried reinstalling drivers, cleaned all the dust from inside case, run antivirus, uninstalled pretty much all non-core programs, nothing helps so far.

Hi slayerized,

Welcome to the 7forums :)

Please update the BIOS to version F3.
GIGABYTE - Motherboard - Socket 1366 - GA-X58-USB3 (rev. 1.0)

Given the amount of crashes and the crashes occurs within 20 seconds after booting I think below are the possibilities of causes
  • The GPU is faulty
  • The GPU needs to be reseated
  • The slot the GPU is seated into is faulty
However it seems that the GPU drivers are looking pretty outdated, this could be a potential cause possibility too.
Code:
6: kd> lmvm nvlddmkm
Browse full module list
start end module name
fffff880`056f7000 fffff880`0619e000 nvlddmkm T (no symbols)
    Loaded symbol image file: nvlddmkm.sys
    Image path: \SystemRoot\system32\DRIVERS\nvlddmkm.sys
    Image name: nvlddmkm.sys

My suggestion: reseat the GPU, does reseating help? No? -> reseat the GPU into a different slot, does it help? No? Possibility that the GPU is faulty is almost 100% when reseating the GPU in a different slot doesn't help, a next step could be to try the GPU in another system to verify that the GPU is faulty or not.

We cannot forget to attempt to update the drivers, I'm not 100% sure if you can install updated drivers without any problems but lets try it :)
