BSOD On My Laptop......

WOW....im on my desktop now. My laptop just got 2 fast BSOD. Out of no where. Hmmm. Never happened before. It said driver something in the blue screen. I didnt catch it. How do i get the dump to show u guys?


When i turned it back on...then clicked IE...bam....another one. Weird. Now my laptop is on...but i havent clicked anything on it.

Anyway...i asked how to get the dump file to post it. That BSOD Exe you gave me rich came out as a virus detected with my Sonar.

It's not a virus. In fact Sonar may be the cause of your BSOD. We do need to see the dump.

That is a false positive.. it was written by an expert and MVP jcgriff2. Those of us who analyse .dmp files on a daily basis can assure you that this file is 100% safe..

I doubt it. Im trying though. I clicked out of a site...radio site then got the blue screen. It restarted...loaded well. then i clicked my AIM icon...another Blue Screen. Thought it might be my Rocketdock then. But why all the sudden now. How do i get the dump Carl?

Yes there is; but there is additional information the JC's program gathers that give us more of an in depth look. Here is theother way; but it lack some information.

Its the Sonar in my Nortons. Im not ruling out it might be the culprit. But i doubt it. Well...i cant download it cause Sonar keeps deleting it. Im on my laptop now. Seem fine. But i just wonder what that was. Strange.

Navigate to c:/windows/minidump and zip up any .dmp file and attach it to your next post as an attachment...

Temporarily disable Sonar, then download it..

These are certain areas that i havent ever need to do. It says access is denied when i tried to zip it. And yea...it asked me for administrator before i clicked it.

i downloaded BlueScreenView....saw the dump. I copied it. Ill paste it below. it was caused by my Universial Shield i downloaded last night. Skip it...i deleted the Shield program. Thats the 1st dump. Second was caused by the same.

Norton is a known cause of BSOD's on some Win 7 systems. Not saying it is the case with yours, I haven't seen the dumps. But it would not surprise me at all. Try the method in that second link I gave you. You don't have to download anything. Move or copy those dump files to your desktop and zip them from there.

It happened on my Vista laptop. I downloaded the BlueScreenView program. It downloaded ok. I copied what i saw inside. Was that enough what i posted recently right before u posted this? Take a look.

No, BlueScreenView is not yet as thorough as Windows Debug; but it is coming along. If we have the actually dumps, we can use a variety of commands to look deeper. I did review what you posted; but it does not have what I am looking for. Most of us on the BSOD team use WinDebug.
