Uninstall your ATI graphics drivers, and install new ones.

Drivers - Clean Left over Files after Uninstalling
You might consider just loading the drivers and not CCC.

You can use MSI Afterburner it's a good GPU control program.

Hi Dave76, many thanks for your reply.

I will uninstall the ATI drivers in about 3hrs time as am currently running a simulation in excel. There have been no crashes for the last 10hrs.

I have the latest Avast(free) installed but will uninstall and go for AVG.

My DVD rom works ok. Never had any errors.

The hard drive is new WD Cavier Blue 250gb that i installed on monday. The BSOD errors started on monday too. How can i fix the bad block? Or do i have to get another hard drive?

Your welcome.

Let us know if you get any more BSoDs.

Personally, I would stay with Avast, but it's your choice.

To check the HDD status and repair the bad blocks run Western Digital Lifeguard– Quick Test and Extended Test.
Let us know what the tests report.

Hi,

I ran WD Lifeguard extended and hard drive passed. I also uninstalled and reinstalled ATI drivers. I was able to play F1 2010 for about an hour then system crashed.
Finally i uninstalled avast and have been runnning Excel&VB simulations for the last 11hrs and still no BSOD. Am begining to think that Avast was the culprit.

Dave76, a final question thats a bit off topic. With the simulations i ran, all 4 cores are processing with only 1 core working at about 90% and the other 3 at 60%. Is it possible to set all cores to run at 100% with the hope that it would cut down processing time by about 2hrs.

many thanks

Did you get dump files?
Post them here if you did.

If it is more stable after you deleted Avast, then D/L Microsoft Security Essentials for testing. IF everything is stable, then you can change to something else.

Did you install the same ATI drivers?
Which ones?
Are you still using CCC?
CCC has been known to cause crashes.
MSI Afterburner is good, have been using it with no issues, it's more stable and easier to adjust/monitor your ATI card.
Sometimes you might need to install an older version of the ATI drivers, they seem to be having a lot of bugs now and a lot of fixes, so you might have to try a few different ones.

As far as the CPU core settings, these are usually set by the program that you have running.

Hi Dave76, thanks once again.

I have now attached the new dump files.
I installed the latest ATI Catalyst Display Drivers rev. 11.5 release date 5/9/2011. Will uninstall the CCC and install MSI afterburner.

Hi,

I've run SFC and it has come back clean. Am also currently running Driver Verifier in the background and if there is another BSOD, I will upload the files.

Could the memory access violation be as a result of running Ram Disk?

thanks.

Looks like Avast was causing a problem.

Run a full scan with your AntiVirus.

Download and run Malwarebytes, be sure to update it before running.

Let us know how the tests go, and if you have any questions.
