BSOD on new system build

""Should I update it anyway?"" NO

Update only with newest,if you have the most recent then there is no need for update.

For the sonix, dont do anything else.

If you had made any changes with speedfan please set everything back to factory settings, then uninstall speedfan.

For that ""I also reapplied thermal compound anyway, with arctic silver 5""

Too much thermal compound sometimes make things worst,If you are advanced with custom building you must first remove\clean all the compound first, then reapplied very carefully not too much.

Download the most recent bios-utility and the most recent bios, download and read all the relative manuals then Update bios.
http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/Intel_Socket_1155/P8P67M_PRO/#download

Update everything in your motherboard with the most recent.

Read very carefully this http://www.sevenforums.com/crash-lo...0x101-clock_watchdog_timeout-troubleshtg.html

Well I have a newer chipset driver than the version currently available on the asus website... Which I thought was strange.

Also, I'm sure I removed/applied the thermal compound correctly.

I updated the bios this morning and have yet to experience bsod, even with my brother using it most of the day. Lets hope I did not speak too soon.

OS
Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit
Also, I noticed through the intel turbo boost monitor gadget that turbo boost typically maxes out at around 3.4 ghz
This happens when I play games, and is the same when I run prime95...

Before I updated bios, the turbo boost bar would actually reach 3.7 ghz (or close to it at least) while under load...

Does this mean it's a problem with the turbo boost feature somehow?

For the chipset driver question, this is normal.

Do you had\have again any bosd?

""......and have yet to experience bsod, even with my brother using it most of the day.""

So far so good :)

I really thought the bios update had fixed the problem... But I was afraid to mark this as solved because the problem might have appeared again... and it did :(

Another blue screen around 15 minutes ago...

I noted that your PSU is insufficient for your build, the GTX465 alone requires at least a PSU with a minimum of 550W
A 650-750W PSU would be enough for your build

What are the test result of Prime95?

I ran prime for 12 hours without error. CPU temps peaked at 70.

Have also in mind that good observation from yowanvista.

A psu update is a good idea.

I have a 600w psu I could swap to test, but its 4 years old. This 550w psu is brand new... shame if I really had to get replacement...

Are you sure that the old psu is ok?

Be careful do not burn\damage anything.

Try that only if you are advanced with custom building!

I installed a new 650 watt psu yesterday. Did a 10 hour and 30 minute prime95 test and all cores passed, and I will continue to test it over the course of the week to see if it will bsod. I'll mark it as solved if there are no bsods by the end of this week. Thanks for your help guys!
