Hi folks..

I am new here and will try to do things as shown in the handy help topic ;)

the last 2 or 3 days i have had a BSOD as i shut down windows.

So going from your help topic about BSOD as follows
Windows 7 . . .
- x86 (32-bit)
- the original installed OS on the system? XP Pro
- an OEM or full retail version? Full

- What is the age of system (hardware)? Approx 2 years
- What is the age of OS installation (have you re-installed the OS?) 6 months

Any help with this would be great...just point me in the right direction of the bit i need to hit with a hammer ;)

Many Thanks

Hello ! Welcome to SF !

Seems like the Dump is pointing to a Core Windows File which is responsible for verifying that system binaries haven’t been tampered with by malicious code and by ensuring that there are no unsigned drivers running in kernel mode on the system.

First step would be to download and run Malwarebytes and make sure you PC is not infected. If you have Alcohol 120% installed i would recommend to uninstall it.

Update the Driver for Salmosa USB Optical Mouse also pcouffin.sys (Belongs pcouffin.sys Windows process - What is it?) nvm62x32.sys (Click here to download NVIDIA DRIVERS 15.25 WHQL)

Update the ones that is from 2002 and 2003 ones

Code:
ov519vid.sys Wed Feb 26 04:35:52 2003
ov519cmd.sys Fri Aug 30 05:39:39 2002
libusb0.sys Thu Mar 10 01:20:17 2005
pcouffin.sys Fri Jun 30 19:10:17 2006
Salmosa.sys Thu Mar 20 14:29:07 2008
irsir.sys Sat Jan 19 11:25:21 2008
ctac32k.sys Wed Jul 02 13:12:27 2008

Wow that was painless hehe

Seems to have done the job, No malware according to the Malwarebytes software.
Updated Salmosa driver, updated Nvidia, but at a loss as to where the pcouffin.sys updates from as i am not using the programs associated with this file...so we will see hehe

but the main point is thank you Capt.Jack Sparrow for your help with this :D

Hi again!

So having removed AVG and installed Microsoft Security Essentials, kept Zonealarm though, all was working fine for a week.
Till 1 moment when I turn off Zonealarm and I am suddenly infected by Antivir Solutions Pro :(, thats so annoying! but it seems Microsoft Security did not spot the threat and i had a lot of trouble removing the Antvir until i found a PS/2 keyboard that worked hehe

removed antivir and also Microsoft Security and went back to AVG..i think this time it is a case of stick with what i know! :)
