I recently built my computer a few days previous. I had it setup fine and running. I was able to play games such as CSGO, GTAV, Arma 3, and DayZ with no problems. Everything was working until this morning, I had shut down last night and it had to update when I shut down. When I turned on my computer this morning I was met by the blue screen with the error. I am currently only able to run in safe mode. I have already tried to do a restore but it had no effect.

I have attached the dump file below. I have not tried to run any memory or cpu tests yet.

Thanks for any help.

There is no crash dump in the zip. So we cannot check it in search of a probable cause.

You are running in safe mode, and normal mode causes the BSOD. That means some device driver which are inactive by virtue of the safe mode is causing the issue. There are apparently two primary suspects which devices are stopped now in Safe mode, despite of being ordered to auto-start with windows:

  • NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970
  • USB Audio Class 1.0 and 2.0 DAC Device
First remove the USB audio thing. Try to Boot into normal mode. Does it work?

If not, remove the nvidia card, apply the display port to the Motherbord's port to activate the Intel HD 4600 graphics. Then try to boot back in normal mode. Does it work? Let us know.

Also, free up the startup. Windows does not need any other program to auto start with it, but the auto start programs often conflicts and causes various problems including BSODs.

  1. Click on the Start button
  2. Type “msconfig (without quotes), click the resulting link. It will open the System Configuration window.
  3. Select the “Startup” tab.
  4. Deselect all items other than the antivirus.
  5. Apply > OK
  6. Accept then restart.
