Okay my brother is getting a BSOD on start up i have been trying to help but nothing seems to work, it started when his Antivirus told him to restart his computer because of and update, but after that only a bsod everytime we try to boot.
i tried to uninstall the antivirus program but it did not help, i dont know what to do now?

i tried to run a system health report but there was some kind of an error..

any help would be much appreciated!

it is a 64 bit win 7 installation which came installed on the computer ?

If you wish to have others assist you with your computer's BSOD symptoms, upload the contents of your "\Windows\Minidump" folder. The procedure:

* Copy the contents of \Windows\Minidump to another (temporary) location somewhere on your machine.
* Zip up the copy.
* Start your own thread in the appropriate section of the forum and attach the ZIP archive to your post using the "paperclip" (file attachments) button.
* Briefly describe the problem history and circumstances in the same post. Somebody will attend to your query as soon as possible.

You should try to get to safe mode, F8 while booting is one method.
While booting turn off the power, next boot, hopefully, it will call up a directory that states which way you would like to boot. ie: last good configuration, normal, or safe mode. Might have to try a couple of times, interrupting the power usually leads to this screen. Let system POST first.
In bios set the CD-ROM to primary boot disk and try using the windows install disk for recovery.
If you can get windows to boot:start>run>msconfig>boot tab>check safe mode>apply>reboot.

If you can get into safe mode, do a sys restore to pre-download time.

Take zigzag's advice as well. There are people here who can read the BSOD dump, tell you whats important to know. I'm not savvy that way, more hardware oriented.

Last decent dump indicated the network card was the problem. What antivirus program was run? Was it something that popped up on screen, or did you load and run it yourself?

The latter dumps are 0 bytes.
