I'd appreciate any direction on this from the esteemed gurus on this forum...

Brand new Dell laptop, running W7. I'm getting an intermittent BSOD on startup, generally every other time I boot I get the screen. I get the option to run in safe mode, but if I choose to start W7 normally, the system reboots just fine. Here is the run down:

It looks as if usbvideo.sys is causing the issue. I suggest going to C:\Windows\System32\Drivers and rename usbvideo.sys to usbvideo.sys.old.

Thanks, Jonathan. I'll give it a shot and let you know if the problem persists.

Out of curiosity, what would have caused this? I've only had this machine for about a week and I haven't done much more than download driver updates and a copy of Open Office.

Perhaps the drivers were corrupted in the beginning, I'm not sure.
