Hello! I just joined the forum. :D

I have been having this random BSOD problem for about the past week, and it's become very irritating. I'm so safe when it comes to viruses and stuff, and this computer is quite new. I have updated drivers and stuff, but nothing has resolved the problem. The only solution that seemed to work temporarily was disabling my overclock, but within days the BSODs started occurring again. I have attached the .zip file that contains the dumps and stuff.

The reason for the BSOD is almost always different. I mainly see something about bad memory management, and there are also ones like bad header and stuff.

Also, please give very clear step-by-step instructions in your replies. I am not very educated about this kind of thing. :p

Please help me before I go crazy.

Are you having both AVG and avast! installed?

Security App

Crashes indicate both your Antivirus being a possible cause. Remove them and replace with Microsoft Security Essentials to see if it provides more stability. Uninstallers (removal tools) for common antivirus software - ESET Knowledgebase

Microsoft Security Essentials and Malwarebytes, both recommended from a strict BSOD perspective.

Microsoft Security Essentials, Free antivirus for windows
Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Free

   Information
DO NOT start the free trial of MalwareBytes. Deselect the option when prompted.

Overclocking

If you are overclocking any hardware, STOP. Reset any changed values back to default.
Please remove any overclocking software if you have them.

Please run these tests and report back the results

Thank you for replying. :)

And no! I had Avast and Malwarebytes installed. Avast for the real-time protection and Malwarebytes for more in-depth weekly computer scans. But I just uninstalled Avast and installed that Microsoft antivirus. It is currently updating and performing a virus scan. I will get back to you with the results of that scan, and the other 5 things you listed.

Hello again!

I think I should tell you that I keep getting a weird error. Sometimes when I open a folder, it tells me that Windows Explorer has stopped working. It's getting really irritating. (

Anyway, here are the results.

Results
1) The Microsoft antivirus found no threats on my computer. However, this was just a quick scan, so later I will do a full scan and post those results.
2) The SFC scan said that Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them. I have attached the log it made to this post.
3) When I did the disk check in my computer's startup, all it said was something about the volume being clean, and then it immediately proceeded to booting up Windows. It didn't seem like anything was really scanned.
4) This step was a little too confusing for me.
5) I could do the RAM test thing when I have a bit more time (like maybe I'll run it overnight tonight).
6) This one was also a bit over my head. :o

2 things:

1) Windows Explorer always crashes when I open the Control Panel.
2) I cannot complete a full virus scan because I get a blue screen every time before it finishes.

Looking at the CBS log, I can't see anything that's likely ot be causing BSOD's - but there are a couple of errors that need to be addressed.

I've uploaded a file - ejsaa.zip - to my SkyDrive at Noel's SkyDrive
Please download and save it.

Right-click on the saved file and select Extract all...
Change the target to C:\ and click on Extract
Close all windows (it would be a good idea to print these instructions!)
Now reboot to the Repair Environment - as soon as the machine restarts, start tapping F8 - this should bring up the Advanced Boot Menu, at the top of which should be the option 'Repair my Computer'
Pick that
You'll have to log in with your username and password.

Pick the option to use a Command Prompt
At the prompt type
DIR C:\ejsaa
hit the enter key - if you get a 'Not Found' error try
DIR D:\ejsaa
or
DIR E:\ejsaa

The drive letter in use when you find the folder will need to be substituted (for<drive>) into the following command...

XCOPY <drive>:\ejsaa <drive>:\windows\winsxs /y /i /s /v /h

(e.g. XCOPY P:\wfire P:\windows\winsxs /y /i /s /v /h )

run the command (it should take almost no time)and when the prompt returns, type
EXIT
and hit the Enter key to exit Command Prompt - reboot to Normal Mode Windows.

Now run SFC /SCANNOW in an Elevated Command Prompt
then reboot and upload the new CBS.log file to your reply

Darn! How strange! :(

When I select to repair my computer and the window pops up asking me something that I can't remember right now, my mouse and keyboard don't function! They just simple turn off. I tried connecting another mouse but that didn't work either.

How weird...

I tried the F8 thing again and for some reason, my mouse and keyboard worked! But when I open up the command prompt and try DIR C:/ejsaa or DIR D:/ejsaa or DIR E:/ejsaa, it always tells me that ejsaa is an invalid switch...

EDIT: Wait, maybe it matters that I did forward slashes instead of back slashes. I will go try again.

EDIT 2: Okay, that did the trick. I think it worked. I'm now running the scan.

EDIT 3: Darn. The scan got to 78% and then a message popped up saying this: Windows Resource Protection could not perform the requested operation. :( Help me please!

The SFC scan appears to have been incomplete - stopping with no errors about 3/4 of the way through.

I've seen this a couple of times - but have no idea of the cause.

Please try running another SFC scan and post the new CBS.log results.

The scan has completed. Unfortunately, I got the same error (the Windows Resource Protection one).

What's weird is that the scan got to 100%...

Anyway, I will still attach the log, and I will also try another scan.

EDIT: I tried a few more scans, but it would always get to a random percentage and then give the same error.

It's worrying that these appear to be increasing rapidly - the most common causes of this type of error are either failing drives, or malware/virus activity, although it could also be bad RAM, or motherboard problems.

Before we attempt anything else, you should check your hard drive and run a full AV scan with a couple of good scanners.

- and because of the amount of stress that will put on the drive, I would recommend backing up to external media first, in case it precipitates a total crash.

Oh, gosh...

This sounds bad. And it sounds like a lot of work. :O

I'm so angry at iBuyPower. I'm not sure if I've mentioned this, but that's where I got this thing from. I talked to them and I will be shipping this thing to them in the next couple days; it's still under warranty. They better fix it...
