BSOD on wakeup from hibernate - possibly ntoskrnl.exe?

Hi All

Longtime lurker here - sorry my first post has to be about a BSOD

Whenever I wake up my new laptop from hibernate OR change the wireless network connection, I get a BSOD

Sometimes it says "System_service_exception", sometimes "irql_not_less_or_equal"

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling wireless drivers.

I have also ran scanow, which said it found corrupt files and fixed them

Problem is still happenning tho!

Attached is my SF_Diagnostic_Tool zip

I am really not sure what to do and am afraid to start uninstalling non MS stuff that appears on blue screen viewer (which points to ntoskrnl.exe)

Any ideas?

Your issue is the storage controller driver.

The appropriate action to Intel RST driver depends on the configuration of the driver; and to know the configuration, we need to see some more data .... you have not provided all the necessary data to us.

At least, upload your MSINFO32.nfo file. Which will help us to know the configuration of the driver and to suggest you the further steps to be taken.

1. Click on the start button
2. Type "msinfo32" (without quotes) in the search bar of the start menu, click the resulting link. It will open the System Information window.
3. File>Save. In the "File Name" filed, put "MSINFO32" (without Quote), give the save location to desktop, and click the "save" button.
4. Give the time for processing, it will save a .nfo file on your desktop.
5. Zip it, and upload it following the instruction.

Its good that the storage controller is set to AHCI mode (Intel(R) Mobile Express Chipset SATA AHCI Controller).

Get rid of intel rapid storage. First uninstall it from Control Panel > Programs and Features. Then Uninstall the driver from device manager.

1. Right click on "my computer" icon and click "manage" on the context menu.
2. It will open the "computer management" window.
3. Select "Device Manager" in the left pane, It will list all the existing devices up.
4. Expand "IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers" by clicking on the triangle in front of it.
5. Select one Intel device item under it, right click, uninstall.
6. Continue the process for all Intel items under "IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers"
7. Now restart the computer. At restart, windows will auto configure the appropriate native system driver.

Then you observe the computer ... how it is running. As we have checked a single crash dump only, we can not say it with certainty that it is the sole issue there.

This time the message was page_in_no_paged_area

A stop 0x50 BSOD caused by fileinfo.sys .... which leads to search of items related to storage.

If you cannot uninstall teh driver manually, better you opt for a clean reinstall no installing RST drivers after installation.

Hmmm

Its definitely been uninstalled and removed from the Device Manager (see composite screenshot!)

I even (out of desperation) renamed iastor.sys to old_iastor.sys

Suspect you may be right re fresh install - as a workround, I've enabled rapid start so that it will go into a deep sleep rather than a full hibernate...

Gonna leave it for half an hour and then awaken it and see what happens!

It appears form the screenshot that you missed the first line.

First uninstall it from Control Panel > Programs and Features. Then Uninstall the driver from device manager.

Dont think in that way, mate You are not any stupid at all, and I am happy sharing a thread with you.

IRST controls it all, and the overall name is Intel Rapid Storage Technology. The drivers are iastor, iastora and iastorv ..... all belongs to IRST family.

Actually, the management engine interface is also a bloatware; but not the proset .... it is a must for wifi.

Anyway, let us know how the computer is running now. Let us know for any further issue.

And, no scope for any negative assessment about yourself, OK?

I'd actually be a lot happier being able to hibernate - rather than sleep, but I am daunted by having to reinstall...

You hibernate, that is needed for laptops. But use the system native mechanism for it, not any third party application.

In control Panel > Power options, you will get your hibernate settings. No need to use any Intel driver for it. OK?

As far as the other things are not causing any serious issue, keep them as they are. What they say ... dont fix it if it is not broken
