I already had 2 OS on my HDDs (win xp and win 7 32-bit).. everything's fine on them... no BSOD... been using win xp for more than 3 years now ... and win 7 32-bit for 1 year... no major problems... now i wanted to install win 7 64bit to take full advantage of my 4gb ram(i had since the purchase of my pc) .... but problem... once it's booted... it randomly BSOD (sometimes just 1min after boot, sometimes 20mins, sometimes 15mins) but it ultimately gets a BSOD... i have tried several installations of win 7 64bit (ultimate, premium, home)... all same problem.. had some problems with installation for some versions (BSOD on install) .... any idea what may be wrong?? plz help? how come nothing on 32bit but it's nightmare on 64bit...

find attached.. my latest minidump ...

my specs are

mobo : asus p5q deluxe
ram : 4gb DDR2
cpu : quad core q8200
gpu : radeon 4870 HD
HDD : 3 HDD (1tb, 500gb, 2tb)

have updated/downgrade my bios..nothing helped and installed latest drivers for sata, mobo, chipset, etc.. from asus website and amd radeon website.

It's a little hard with only one dump, but it is pointing to a hardware issue.

Code:
BugCheck 124, {0, fffffa8004c48028, b2000040, 800}

Probably caused by : GenuineIntel

I did notice ASACPI.sys on your system which is know to cause bosd's so it might be worth uninstalling any Asus system tweaking utilities you have installed and see how it goes.

Hello yeahman45 and welcome to Sevenforums.

Things we need.
Thank you for uploading the crash dumps. Though, in order to help you -- we'd need a full report. This includes, sys infos, nfo etc. To get these files, use our thread below.

1) It's only a few bits of voltages we're talking about, but make sure that your cables are tight, the BIOS settings are default and most important -- nothing is overclocked. Small bits of voltages of the difference is not too serious when dealing with the CPU; but it might be a causer - especially when the Processor is rapidly blamed in the 'Probably Caused By'-line.

2) Ensure that the case is cool inside, check your temperatures in BIOS or use Speccy for instance. Try to open your case (:info: Ensure warranty rules and regulations), and get a fan to blow directly into the hardware.

3) Update every driver that interacts with the hardware. (Raid, Controllers, Graphics Card driver)

4) Nevertheless it's important to keep Windows updated because 0x124 might not point to hardware.

5) Report if these bugchecks appears at times, they're the most common one within Hardware issues and overclocking.

Not overclock and on default bios settings

Ensure warranty rules and regulations), and get a fan to blow directly into the hardware.

Temperatures seem normal and i have no problem with winxp/7 32-bit

3) Update every driver that interacts with the hardware. (Raid, Controllers, Graphics Card driver)
Done

Tried to update but got BSOD before i could dload/install the updates

Is the Graphics Card temperature at idle, 71 °C? That's quite hot honestly.

Combining your crash dumps and the general view of BSODs culprits, I'd suggest you to have a look at your memory, the sticks. Through decades people have been using the bootable tool called Memtest86+ and it's basically very unique in these manners.
:info: Be sure to check your warranty rules and regulations before opening your case.
* Memtest86+ is USB-ready, and can be booted directly from it. Download the flashdrive wizard.
* To ensure that either your sticks OR your motherboard slots are broken, it's necessary to do the below procedure-
* Pull out all sticks except ONE, scan it.
* If no errors, pull the scanned stick into another slot.
* Proceed like this until you've scanned all sticks individually, and all the slots.

Thank you for your effort!
Fred.

71 degrees is the normal temperature for my card .. it's like this since day 1 .. it's the HIS radeon 4780 and read that it is the normal temperature. Will try memtest but did one quite recently and no errors

i am attaching cpuz full report

I honestly don't know what's going on. I cannot give you further advice if my 0x124 suggestions didn't fix your issue. I'd just switch back using 32-bit, your processor is clearly not comfortable using 64-bit -- also it's noticeable the processor is mentioned in almost all your crash dumps.
Feel free to wait for another reply by another person, but I just think your processor isn't ready for 64-bit for whatever reason.

Good luck. :)
Fred.

Everything is CPU related. Stick to 32-bit, for some reason your processor doesn't like using 64-bit.

Frederik.

It's odd that you only get the hardware error on x64 and I have no way of explaining that.

Have you tried clearing the bios from the jumper on the mobo just to make 100% sure that everything is at defaults.

will try clearing the bios... q8200 supposed to support 64 bit architecture :( ... if nothing works.. will try a 64bit xp or ubuntu 64bit to see if it's an issue with win 7 64bit only

edit: can you guys recommend an app to check my cpu?

edit2: i want to use my full 4gb lol and install adobe 64-bit only apps

I hope someone can provide me with a solution as i am getting really frustrated with that. I cant evrn update my windows

edit: just installed winxp 64bit and been running and installing bunch of stuff(drivers, software, antivirus, etc..) and no BSOD for more than 1hr now... looks good.... will continue running after installing all drivers... but looks stable for now... so it does seem that the BSODs occur only on win7 64bit....(lol that's why i am posting on the sevenforums)

Are you running 32-bit drivers on a 64-bit system by the way? It happens.

Best Regards,
Frederik.
