BSoD only surfing and idle - not gaming

Hi guys,

After I installed 2 pairs of the exact same RAM modules I began to get multiple BSoD randomly with many different codes.

As for now, I have been running a memtest86+ v. 5.01 for almost 20 hours. 8 passes 0 errors.

The BSoD only occur when surfing or idling - not when gaming for hours.


My PC is with this setup:
MSI Z87-G45 Gaming
eVGA SuperNOVA 750 G2
i5-4670K @ 4,4 GHz OC
MSI R9 290X GAMING 8G (8GB)
16GB G.Skill Sniper 1866 MHz set to XMP profile 1 in BIOS (4x4GB)
Samsung 840 Pro 256GB
WD 500 GB + WD 1 TB


When resetting BIOS to standard (no XMP profile active, RAM running at 1600 MHz and CPU as stock) nothing seems to be wrong and no BSoD apparently.
Before I installed the new RAM modules I never got BSoD.

I can do heavy Photoshopping, watching HD movies i VLC media player and heavy gaming like BF4 and GTA V without any issues but as soon as the PC is idling, i'm surfing, or PS3 media player is streaming video to my PS3 it will come suddenly.


Can you see something wrong with the DM collector collected files?

A stop 0x3B BSOD is most possible on a counterfeit windows install.

The OEM key of ASUS is valid on ASUS branded PCs only, not on a MSI retail motherboard. And such a counterfeit windows installation is not worth troubleshooting because of its own virtue.

There may be some other reason behind the BSODs, but you first need to eliminate the most problematic part. Get a legit windows license and activate a fresh windows install with it. Let us know for any further issue. We will be right here to assist you.

The random BSODs is only occurring when the XMP profile for my RAM (or speed and timings are manually set after specs) is enabled/set - and only when my CPU is running overclocked.

If CPU is set to stock clock and WITH XMP enabled: no problems
If CPU is overclocked and with XMP disabled but speed is 1866 MHz but timings something with 13-13-13+: no problems.

So it has something to do with either the CPU's IMC under pressure (though its a Haswell chip) or the motherboard not providing the informed amount of Voltages etc.

So your number one protocol to check whether a windows install is genuine or not doesnt do any difference at all.

Yes it does. Your installation is counterfeit, apart from being illegal it also probably contains heavily modified code that makes debugging useless or impossible.

Plus we don't support pirated software on here. Get a genuine Windows installation, then if you still get BSODs we'll help you out.
