Hi all,

I've recently started getting BSODs when I'm playing a certain video game, and this is eerily reminiscent of an incident in the previous month that led to my first HDD completely failing on me, partially because I didn't recognize the sound coming from inside my case until it was almost too late.

This PC was running perfectly fine for the past 5 months without any problems, but since then I've been double checking all my wiring and connections repeatedly and run checked for disk errors once each with no incident.
I've also checked for driver updates and everything is up to date according to Windows.

DM zip is attached.

Hi blueblueblue.

Test your HDD using Data Lifeguard Diagnostic for Windows. Take both the short test and the extended test.

Also uninstall Virtual CloneDrive.

Let us know the result.

EDIT: Make it sure that there is no loose screw holding the HDD with the stand.

Lifeguard short and extended tests showed no problems, and my HDD is using a snap in rack in my case.

A rather late update from me but I've been away and unable to check up on it. Virtual CloneDrive has been uninstalled but I'm still getting BSOD intermittently.

Any thoughts on what else it might be?

Next, do two things.

Post a screenshot of your discs using CrystalDiskInfo - Software - Crystal Dew World

Open the computer. Make it sure that the SATA and power cables are properly placed. Change the SATA cable if possible and apply it to another SATA port on the motherboard.

Let us know the results.

I was away from my computer for another month or so, and when I returned to start the next set of instructions given to me, I got multiple BSODs in succession of different kinds before it literally stopped booting up properly.
I get a black screen of death where the windows desktop should be, all of my system restores from a few months earlier are completely corrupted and do not work because they're missing some file from a music player configuration(???), and I've been stuck at startup repair checking for disk errors for two hours.
On top of that, I'm still getting clicking noises from my HDD whenever my computer starts up, but they always stop after the Windows boot logo.

To recap some of the things that I've gotten at the BLACK screen and windows recovery console:
font error
windows explorer has stopped working at boot
system32 is corrupted
registry corrupted BSOD

I am either going to reformat W7 again or install my RMAed HDD before doing so at this rate. Any ideas to the contrary?

So there is a ground to believe that the disc is corrupt.

RMA it or get a new one, do a clean install on the new one.
