stavesacre03, I was reading that driver to install and it appears it is not free. It is a 14 day trial and has a pretty steep price, as far as I'm concerned.

essenbe, thank you for the update. I will pass then. So far so good with the printer disconnected from the router, but I'll know more when I test Media Center with the xbox 360 as extender. May not get to that until tomorrow.

I think that's what I would do until I found a work around. Maybe disconnect both and see if you have any more crashes, then plug one in and try it and see. If no crashes after a reasonable time, try the other one. If you get a crash swap them, unplug the one that worked OK, and leave the one you think made it crash plugged in. The reasoning is to determine if it is one of them in particular, or if it is simply the fact that 2 plugged in at the same time causes the crash. It could just be an issue of it can do one or the other, but not both at the same time. I hope I explained that right.

Great, I'll want to know. If it is your Asus Router, I would think they should have some driver updates since 2007.

Try this, click driver and tools Networking - RT-N56U - ASUS

Yes, that is where I downloaded the newest firmware. I don't see any separate drivers though, unless I'm missing them. There are a few tools for the printer function, but the most recent one was what I used to set up the printer a couple of weeks ago (apparently when the BSOD's started). If I can maintain Media Center over my xbox, and just use the printer's WIFI instead of sharing over router, and not have any more BSOD, I'll be a happy camper.

If setting up the tool for the printer is when the BDODs started, uninstall it and try it that way. It sounds like that could be the problem, if there were none before.

Well things have improved, but not perfect I'm afraid. I didn't have a BSOD, but the PC crashed and restarted during windows media center playback over xbox 360. In looking at event viewer there have been quite a few critical errors, warnings and errors over the past 48 hours. I think it created a new minidump (attached). I'm wondering if we have new info or the same issue as before?

Since last post, I have attached both external USB drives, as well as the secondary/data internal HD. I also switched from MSE to Panda free antivirus. I also loaded up a number of programs I have used in the past (before the BSOD's started) such as HDHomerun, Plex media server, Crashplan, Steam, etc.

Printer remains unplugged from the router, and I'm leaving it that way as I'm content with wifi printing as is.

If the xbox is currently causing issues, I can switch it to wifi instead of LAN through router, but I'm concerned about speeds needed for HD playback.

Your SSD is a Samsung EVO, is the firmware up to date and did you apply the fix, Performance restoration? You will have to scroll down, but data migration is there, Samsung Magician, Firmware and the restoration fix. Samsung SSD Downloads | Samsung SSD

After that the only thing I can come up with this early for me is,

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/313457-seatools-dos-windows-how-use.html#Part3 thr long snd short tests on the mechanical drives

Then Be sure to create the system restore point Manually, the link is below. In some cases, that is the only way back. Sort all drivers by provider and select all non Microsoft drivers. Then use the computer as normal and if there is anything that causes a BSOD, do that often. Use the computer any way you want. It will seem pretty sluggish and a little slow. That is Normal. What we are doing is putting extra stress on the Non Microsoft drivers in an effort to make the troublesome driver BSOD and be able to catch it. Please use it for a minimum of 24 hours of actual use or until you have had a couple of BSODs. Then re run the BSOD posting instructions and upload the files.

   Warning
Be sure to create a System Restore point before proceeding further http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/697-system-restore-point-create.html

Driver Verifier - Enable and Disable
Run Driver Verifier for 24 hours or the occurrence of the next crash, whichever is earlier.
   Information

What is Driver Verifier:
It puts stress on the drivers, and tries to make the faulty driver crash the computer. It is designed this way, to attempt to trap the offending driver.

What you will notice:
It will tend to make the computer rather slow and sluggish because the drivers are being stressed.
   Warning

Before enabling DV, make sure you have created a system restore point before enabling Driver Verifier. make a System Restore Point manually before enabling DV.

   Tip

Let us know the results, with the subsequent crash dumps, if any.

OK, I had read that Panda was pretty trouble free, but I'm fine switching back to MSE. Is it just a matter of removing via the uninstall programs menu, or will that not remove everything?

You can either leave it for now if you want until we find out the real problem. If you want to, I think you have the Panda Cloud AV, if that is correct, you can uninstall it from the add/remove programs then use their uninstaller CloudAV Standalone Uninstaller - MediaCenter Panda Security

OK, I'll just leave it for now. I'm not really tied to any particular AV--just heard good things about Panda. If at some point you feel I should switch back to MSE, I will do so.

I'm working on your other suggestions now. So far, the Samsung EVO SSD already had latest firmware
and I had previously completed the performance restoration process, but just completed again to be sure. Magician shows drive status as good.

Downloaded the SeaTools iso and will run that on the mechanical drive in a few minutes, as well set up the system restore point before enabling driver verifier.

OK, when you finish that please download and install Malwarebytes Free version Malwarebytes | Free Anti-Malware & Internet Security Software During installation watch out for add ons and just uncheck them so they will not install and uncheck the trial real time option and ude it as an on demand scanner, Update it and run a full scan with that and Panda.

Also download and install Superantispyware Free edition, same rules for that and anything else downloaded from the internet, update that and run a full scan. Delete everything found

Scan with Kaspersky TDSSKiller:
Anti-rootkit utility TDSSKiller
Anti-rootkit utility TDSSKiller

And, in my opinion the best one
ESET online scanner:
Free Virus Scan | Online Virus Scanner from ESET
Free Online Virus Scanner | ESET

Run a full scan with them also. I know it sounds like a lot, but it isn't really. It will make you as sure as possible there are no viruses causing this. Keep me updated on your progress.

Will do. Seatools for DOS did not work for my internal HDD--said it could not be found--I wonder if it only tests the primary drive (C:/) and in my case that drive is the SSD. I am using Seatools for Windows and completed short passes on internal HDD and the two external drives. Long pass completed for internal and one external. All passed no problems. Still waiting for it to complete on larger external drive. Once done, I will proceed with everything else.

Hi, I followed all directions completely. Here are the results:

--SSD already had latest firmware, and I completed the restoration fix again (previously completed it a couple of months ago).

--all HDD's passed Seatools for Windows short and long generic tests. My 2TB external drive took a really long time to complete the long test--seemed to be disproportionate to the size of the other drives (i.e., probably 4 times longer than my 750GB external drive).

--Driver Verifier enabled and restarted windows after. No BSOD as of yet.

--installed and ran full scans from Malwarebytes, Panda, Superantispyware, Kaspersky TDSSKiller, and ESET online scanner. Only things found aside from a handful of tracking cookies was this from Superantispyware:

Malware.Trace
(x86) HKU\S-1-5-21-655957656-552148623-2211127539-1003\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\WINDOWS NT\CURRENTVERSION\WINLOGON#SHELL

and this from ESET:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Panda Security\Panda Security Protection\Tools\PandaSecurityTb.exe a variant of Win32/Toolbar.Visicom.A potentially unwanted application deleted - quarantined
C:\Users\Tim\AppData\Local\Temp\{0BEF29BA-E8E9-42B9-B179-DAFB28E7B9C4}.exe a variant of Win32/Toolbar.Visicom.A potentially unwanted application deleted - quarantined

After my last post, I restarted and windows did not start back up correctly. I tried again and it loaded, but with the "windows has recovered from an unexpected shutdown" window. I assume it was the verifier-related sluggishness, but it sure took a long time to get the minidump, etc. info using the diagnostics tool. Anyway, it is attached for review.
