Solved BSOD pagefault in nonpaged area 0x00000050 ntoskrnl.exe+75bc0

OK, I will research it, but I know all USB ports I'm plugged into are working (I literally only have keyboard, mouse and the two external HDD's plugged into USB ports)--not sure if there is a delay at startup or what. Also, I installed the Intel 3.0 drivers directly from their website so I know they are the newest. Perhaps I should roll back to the version that came on my motherboard support dvd?

Twice now since I enabled verifier, the computer has frozen up and horizontal lines showed on the display. I had to do a hard reboot each time. Both times I was just doing basic web surfing. I don't know if a new minidump occurred or not, but I ran the diagnostic tool and attached what it found. I didn't get the crash box I usually get after BSOD.

No, there are no dump files. It normally requires a BSOD to write a dump file. The symptoms you describe sound like a Graphics card problem. Disable Driver verifier for now and reinstall the graphics drivers, Here are sone tips to give you the best install, if I haven't given them to you before.

I am going to give you some links that will help you get a good clean install and not have any drivers you don't need that will conflict with other drivers. Download a WHQL driver from http://www.sevenforums.com/graphic-cards/329659-latest-amd-catalyst-video-driver-windows-7-a.html . Once you have them downloaded, uninstall you current driver from control panel. next clean up any left over drivers from following this tutorial http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/83814-drivers-clean-left-over-files-after-uninstalling.html and select only ATI Display Drivers. After you have done that and rebooted, install the new driver, only select custom install and install only what you have to. Very few people need most of what they include. You do not need the audio/HDMI drivers as you already have that in your Motherboard drivers. Unless there is some reason you need them, the only thing you really need is the Display Driver.

Try that and see if you see any change.

Thanks, Steve, I will try after work and let you know. However, I did only install the driver, directly from ATI with this most recent windows re-install. Basically I did exactly what you described--driver only and not the rest of the Catalyst software.

I did see in Event Viewer this morning that it was reporting a disk error of some sort with the same external HDD that took forever to run Seatools with yesterday. I set it up to scan all sectors and repair if able--it was still running when I left for work, so I'll know more tonight. If there is indeed a problem it's interesting that it passed both short and long generic Seatools tests yesterday.

I really don't know about those 'reviews' I don't really trust most of them. I used MSE for years and years and never got a virus of any kind. But, MSE is the only AV I am aware of that has never caused a BSOD.

I don't blame you for that at all, and in the BSOD section, that's why MSE is almost always recommended. Our job is to try and stop BSODs.

Hello, Steve, quick update--I followed your instructions for uninstalling the graphics driver and installing the new one. Also uninstalled Panda and installed MSE. Let me know if you would like me to turn driver verifier back on please.

On another note, the external drive that took so long to test on Sunday, never did successfully complete the check disk scan and attempt recovery of bad sectors (I had it running for 10 hours while I was at work and it was maybe 20 percent done). I reformatted that drive and will do more testing with it when I have time. I don't know if this is the possible culprit for the USB issues I've had or not. I did move another external drive into the same port and it is working fine so I don't think the USB port is to blame.

let's wait and see what happens with the changes you made. It is quite possible that drive could be much of the problems you had. I had a drive once that kept my computer from even posting. I took the computer apart and rebuilt it 3 times in 1 night before I finally found out it was a hard drive. So, yes the drive could cause a lot of problems.

That code most often relates to a storage device or a lack of disk space but can also be memory or hardware compatability. Is there any reason to suspect your graphics card is malfunctioning? Please make sure you have GPU Temp monitoring program and run Furmark This will tell you how, although I really do not like speedfan. If you need suggestions of a temp monitoring program, I can give it to you. Monitor your temps during this test. Your temps will rise very high and very quickly and continue to climb until they level out. Once they level out you can stop the test, but during the test watch closely for any artifacts or anything unusual happening on the screen. If the temps get too high, stop the test. http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/100356-video-card-stress-test-furmark.html

Remember the external drive I mentioned I had concerns with? Well, I reformatted it and ran Seatools for Windows again and it passed short and long tests. It also passed check disk with no problems. I have it plugged in, but it is blank (nothing added to the drive). I still think it was acting strange. Should I unplug it and see what happens? Since the error could be storage I wonder if this is the problem? I will certainly run Furmark as well and monitor temps and report those values.

Yes, I would definitely unplug it. When you reformat it or Seatools or Check disk says it 'fixed' it, what it actually does is notify the controller not to write data to that sector, it does not and cannot fix it. Typically, the damaged sector will continue to grow and more data will be compromised. Causing more errors.

But, that coupled with the error code makes me believe that is much of the problem. However, most of what has been blamed for the crashes has been fairly consistently the graphics drivers. I just hope you are not having more than one problem.

The error code is usually a storage error or other hardware problem sometimes.

Unplugged sketchy external HD. Ran Furmark with settings as described. Temp tops out at 95 degrees. I let it run for 25 minutes to see if there were any artifacts--none seen. I smell what I would describe as hot plastic, but not smoke. I've never seen any artifacts with this video card. The only thing I've ever noticed was the horizontal lines when windows first booted after enabling driver verifier (saw that twice--the whole system was frozen though). I contacted XFX a week ago to see if they felt that was a problem and they said if no artifacts during Furmark, the card was OK. Of course, who knows.

Yes, but first try running memtest86+ and yes, I know what a Pain it is.
Please Run Memtest86+
picture.php

   Information
Please download from this site only http://www.memtest.org/ in the middle of the page are the Download links, you can download the ISO.zip or the Auto USB Flash Drive installer.zip

Extract the Zip file. If you chose the ISO image, burn it to a CD using Windows Disk Image Burner or any Image burner you may have. If you downloaded the Auto USB installer, extract it, insert your USB 2.0 Flash Drive and take note of the drive letter. Run the installer, select the Flash Drive Letter, check the format box and press next. It will install memtest86+ to a flash drive. You can use either V4.20 or V5.01. Boot from your selected media. If you use V5.01 it will tell you to press certain buttons at the start, please press no buttons. The test will begin on it's own and continue to run until you stop it. It needs to run for 8 complete passes or until you receive an error. If you receive an error, stop the test. Even 1 error is a fail. Each pass tests a different part of the ram and each of the 10 tests in each pass tests something different. It takes a minimum of 8 passes to completely test the ram, more passes are better. It is quite a long test and will take several hours depending on how much ram you have. Due to the time length it is best to run overnight. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask
