Solved BSOD pagefault in nonpaged area 0x00000050 ntoskrnl.exe+75bc0

I did run memtest 86+ for 16 passes 6 days ago (it was overnight plus left it running while I was at work). I also had run it for 8 passes twice before that (so 3 times in past 3 weeks or so). I can run it overnight tonight if you think I should.

EDIT: would there be value in running the sticks separately just to be sure?

Just an update: I ran memtest 86+ overnight (8 full passes) with no errors again. Before that I enabled Driver Verifier and ran Heaven benchmark for about an hour on a loop to see if it would crash the system or show any artifacts--neither happened. GPU temp stayed around 70-71 throughout that process. As of now I'll keep the system on 24/7 as before and see if Verifier can get it to crash again.

One more question--I'm running Event Viewer a couple of times per day--i often get VSS Volume Shadow Copy Service errors. Is this something to be concerned about?

Well, it was set to automatic because I changed it a couple of days ago from manual because I read somewhere it should be automatic (I was seeing the VSS errors prior to changing to automatic); anyway, I changed it back to manual.

The 100 MB reserved partition shows 72MB free and 28 MB used.

UPDATE: still seeing VSS errors after changing to manual and rebooting.

Another recurrence of the system being frozen--power light on, fans spinning, mouse light on, but not responding to anything and monitor not waking up out of sleep--had to hard re-boot it. I'm about to chuck the whole system. :(

Do you have driver verifier on? That could cause it. I wouldn't throw it out the window quite yet. ;)

I don't think I mentioned in the first post, but I was having system freezes (but no BSOD) with all of the existing components except with an Asrock z87 extreme4 motherboard. I (apparently) jumped the gun and swapped it out with the current ASUS z87 pro motherboard. I also replaced the power supply with no changes, so I've lost some calculated risks (and money) in this "battle". Feels like it's a hardware issue as we've attempted a lot software-related. It's just frustrating that everything I've tested has come back OK--RAM (memtest 86+), CPU (intel diagnostic tool), GPU (Furmark, etc.).

EDIT: Oh and my wife is about to kill me for all of the time I've spent with this!

Starting to feel like clockwork--about every 3 days now with BSOD. Latest minidump attached. Thanks for looking.

FYI--I ran verifier for about 48 hours with no crashes. Turned it off last night (about 24 hours ago), but kept system running 24/7. At the time of this crash, PC was inactive and monitor was asleep but PC was not--i moved the mouse to wake up the monitor and it immediately crashed.

I'll be honest with you, I don't know what is wrong. here is what both dumps say.

Code:
Use !analyze -v to get detailed debugging information.
BugCheck [COLOR=red]1000007E[/COLOR], {ffffffffc0000005, fffff8800f18b160, fffff8800279fdd8, fffff8800279f630}
Probably caused by : [COLOR=red]atikmdag.sys[/COLOR] ( atikmdag+cd160 )
Followup: MachineOwner

It is blaming them on your Graphics driver, but I still think the graphics driver is a victim, not a cause. I believe I have told you before, a stop code 7E is almost always a storage problem. You had that one drive that was bad and replaced. it is possible there is a board problem with the storage controller/

Where did you buy the Windows 7 disk? I have no reason to believe this is a counterfeit installation, but please run and reply here from this tutorial http://www.sevenforums.com/windows-...ne-activation-issue-posting-instructions.html I will get someone to look at it. After that we can look at a few other things.

Hi essenbe, I don't recall specifically, but I believe I purchased from newegg.com. I don't know if it matters, but it is a windows 7 upgrade disc, and i've only ever had it installed on this machine.

The only other thing I can think of storage-related is when I installed the SSD when I built the PC 8 months ago, I wasn't paying attention and the plugs got bent when I put the drive in the case. the outside plastic part of the drive itself broke off where the power connector and sata plug attached to the drive. I couldn't plug them in without them falling out, so I used hot glue to hold the power connector and sata plug in place.

I suppose it is possible there is a bent pin now at that connection, but would it really be this sporadic if that is the issue? I'm confident nothing is moving the way I have it glued, and the PC itself is not being physically moved or shaken at the time of these BSOD's.

As always, thanks again for your help with this.

yes, that is very possible. Did you break the plug or the connectors on the hard drive? Also if your Windows copy was an upgrade version, what version of Windows did the computer ship with?

yes, that is very possible. Did you break the plug or the connectors on the hard drive? Also if your Windows copy was an upgrade version, what version of Windows did the computer ship with?
As best as I can describe, the plastic housing on the SSD itself was the part that broke (the outside plastic part). I was able to attach the plugs and use hot glue to hold the plugs in place on the SSD. I inspected the pins at that time and just assumed that since it was reading the SSD fine everything was OK.

The PC is custom built, but I have a retail copy of Windows Vista that I "upgraded" from. I used the clean install method described here: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/31402-clean-install-upgrade-windows-7-version.html
