It's the same thing. Do you have another card or have a friend who will swap with you for a couple of days? That would be the most telling test.

Replaced xfx R9 270x with a brand new Power Color R9 280 (not my favorite brand, but got a good deal). Just to be safe I uninstalled all drivers and ran Display Driver Uninstaller before I installed the new card. New drivers directly from AMD site. I'll run Furmark and monitor temps and see if any more BSOD's.

Sounds good. Let me know how it goes and the temps. They are supposed to run pretty hot. I bought a Powercolor 5770 when they were new. I use it for a backup now, but it's still running. They are not that bad.

Well, so far so good with temps. The old card idled at 32 degrees C and maxed out at 95 degrees C on furmark. New card idles at 30, and maxed out at 73 on furmark. So, I'm impressed with the cooling at least.

Too early to tell on the BSOD's, but I'm hoping for the best. I've already replaced the power supply and mother board, so unless it's the CPU or RAM, I've pretty much replaced everything else.

You ran memtest which tests the ram, and I think you ran Prime95 which tests the CPU. Trust me, just because it's new does not mean it works right. I'm glad it is working out so far and hope it continues. Let me know the outcome.

I'm not sure if I helped much or not. Hopefully the new card will help. Then you can RMA the old card and know that was the problem.

Well, another BSOD. Attached dump file. Is mother board next to replace? I've literally replaced everything except CPU and RAM. Memtest 86+ passes 16 times with zero errors.

I should add that with prior motherboard (Asrock z87 extreme 4) I did not actually have any BSOD's, but the system froze up quite regularly, I guess what I would term as black screens of death. CD drives would open, mouse light on, etc., but monitor black and system would not respond--would require hard re-boots.

I suppose it's possible I've gotten 2 bad motherboards, or perhaps some of the other fixes would have resolved the Asrock board issues? At this point, unless the dump files point to something else, I'm going to RMA this ASUS board and reinstall the Asrock board and see what happens. Let me know if you have other suggestions. I can't believe you had 2 bad video cards. We have run every test I know to run and you've passed them all. I also find it hard to believe you were having basically the same problems with 2 Motherboards.
We have run Seatools for your hard drive
Memtest86+ for the ram, furmark for the Video card.
The only test I don't remember running is Prime95.r Did we run that? It is basically a CPU test but is a general system stability test. It will cause your CPU temps to go extremely high, so you have to watch them very closely and stop the test if they get too high. I use Core Temp for CPU Temps (Core Temp) as always whatch out for the add on programs they like to include with it and opt out. http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/100352-hardware-stress-test-prime95.html Use Prime95 or AIDA64 which is not free, but has a 30 day free trial. It's up to you, but it really needs to be run for several hours. I run it for 18-24 hours, but I don't expect you to do that. I woupd think for 5-8 hours anyway. How much free space do you have on your hard drives? And, your error is a memory violation. That does not necessarily mean ram, it could be video memory or virtual memory.

Hard drives have plenty of space--all about 500 GB free. I'll run Prime95 overnight. Do you suggest blend?

I always run blend. But don't run it when you can't watch it. You have a hot running CPU anyway, you need to keep watch on it and shut it off if it gets too hot.

OK, makes sense. I'll run prime95 for a couple of hours before bed tonight, then memtest overnight and while I'm at work just to re-confirm RAM is OK.
