Solved BSOD performing backup, error 0x0000004a ntoskrnl

Hi,

This is the first time so I hope I get this right

I get BSOD everytime I try to perform a system backup. I tried it with Windows Backup software and Macrium Reflect free edition but my computer crashes everytime it reaches around 71%. I tried switching powercables, sata cables, update drivers and change backup directory. In cmd I ran sfc /verifyonly without it detecting any problems neather did memtest. I can run Prime95 for hours without any problems.

The strange thing is that when I create a system backup windows stops at 71%, it is like unplugging the C: drive. I can move my cursor and click on programs but not access anything and it appears an error like "This program can not be accessed". This lasts for about 10s and then the BSOD appears.

The BSOD is caused by BitDefender.

Uninstall BitDefender. Use Microsoft Security Essentials as your antivirus with windows inbuilt firewall, and free MBAM as the on demand scanner.
Download, install and update those, and then run full system scans with both of them, one by one.

Thank you very much for the information. I think I will keep bitdefender for now, because it was detecting more viruses than MSE and because I bought a license for it. I installed MSE and tried scanning, then I tried BD only one hour after that. It detected 3 trojan horses that MSE did not detect. I just feel safer with BD. I will change AV program later the way you wrote.

Expect BSODs to continue in this case.

Dont use TWO antivirus program anyway, it will make the situation ever worst.

BTW, there are programs those can catch even more viruses. I personally experienced a program catching 49 threats in a just unpacked brand new pendrive.

Most of the tech enthuciasts trust MSE, there is a reason.

I bought BD for 3 years and one year is over, I will wait half a year so that my money was not a waste. I been studying computers for 2 years (that's nothing) and before that I knew literally nothing. I never even heard anything about CPU and GPU and I did not even know what RAM is, nor the difference between software and hardware. You think MSE is the better choice, so maybe it was a waste already. (=

I had a serius problem and that can now be solved just because of you. THANK YOU!

I dont think MSE is a better choice. MSE is the better and wise choice that is the fact.

I am a member of SevenForums. You came here in search of help for your issue. I pointed the issue out to you. Now, following the instructions or otherwise is totally up to you. Your computer, your money, your decision.

What I can say that if you dont follow, the BSODs will continue to occur. Will expect from you to not start multiple threads with the same issue.
