Hi everyone

Here's what I am runnng:

Dell Inspiron N7110
2nd Gen CORE i5
Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit
6 GB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce GT 525M graphics

I've only had this laptop for close to two months and recently it has been giving me problems. Sometimes it will start up and run for a few, then it will crash and say it is dumping physical memory to disk.

I have the dump files so I'll attach them here, but I don't know what I should do next. Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Thank you very much for your help. I went through your instructions and found a trojan on my machine, Alureon. I removed it using Windows Defender Offline, but directly after that finished, my computer will not start anymore.

I am taken to a Windows Error Recovery screen, so I tried Launch Startup Repair. The repair would not work either, and I could not perform a System Restore.

I ran the startup repair probably 5 times and at the end of each pass it said that it could not fix the problem by itself. Unfortunately I do not have the exact message in front of me because I am restoring my computer from a system backup. I was able to get pretty much all of the data I had on my machine onto an external hard drive so I shouldn't lose much. I'm just hoping everything works after this reinstall.

Okay, so here is where I am at with everything. The system restore attempt failed. It went through its process, and upon restart I still cannot boot. I do not have a recovery or boot disc to boot from either.

When I attempt to start my machine, it makes it to the Starting Windows screen. After a couple of seconds, a blue screen flashes for a split second. Then I am presented with the option of running Startup Repair or trying to start Windows normally.

I ran the Startup Repair again and this is what I got. In the diagnosis and repair details window, each test says "Completed successfully. Error code = 0x0" and at the end of the report reads "Root cause found: Failure while setup is in progress."

I cannot boot in safe mode either. I am at a loss right now as for what to do next.

Thank you for the help.

I followed the procedure you have provided, but I only got up to step 17. All of the files that step had me checking on were 0 bytes, so I have a 0-byte size registry hive.

I will have to wait a few days to receive the disc in the mail since Dell has to mail it to me. I will perform the clean install after that. I was able to pull all of my files off of my hard drive, put them on another system and back them up to an external drive. Thanks to everyone for all of your help!
