Hey guys, for some reason whenever I'm playing Battlefield 3 after 10-20 minutes I will get a BSOD. First time I have a BSOD issue I can't solve so I need your help! I build my own computer and for friends, this is the 6th computer I've built and I've never had any problems until now. This is not a new computer, it has been running problem free for 2.5 years now (specs below)
At first I thought it was the new Xonar DG I installed in my computer, but I have removed that and wiped clean the drivers with Driver Fusion (a driver cleaner). This was fafter trying different drivers for the card.
I have also wiped all the Realtek drivers, and onboard sounds remains DISABLED. I am currently using the computer without sound.
However the BSOD still happens after playing BF3 for 10-20mins. So I updated my nvidia drivers from the latest beta ones to the latest WHQL ones. This was a clean driver installed, the old ones were completely removed. No go BSOD still happens.
I did a memory test with windows memory tool cause I thought my ram might be acting up but no problems were reported. I do have a windows pagefile, so that can't be the issue either, anyway I have never had this problem since I built this computer 2.5 years ago.
I have also reinstalled BF3 but the issue still persists. I do not want to do a clean install of windows if I don't have to, it's abit of a hassle, but of course if the problem is there then I will.
BSOD never happens if I'm not playing BF3. If I was downloading something the computer would be fine. BF3 has on occasion froze when the level is loading and I am still in the windows battlelog screen on Google Chrome, but this is rare, usually it's after playing the game for 10-20 minutes.
No evidence of CPU or Graphics card overheating. Ambient room temperature is 18-20 degrees. Was playing Just Cause 2 over 3 days ago for over 2 hours, no BSOD or crashes. Just tried running Geeks3D Furmark for 10 minutes, GPU temperatures never went up above 80 degrees celcius and CPU temperatures never went up above 53 degrees Celsius for any of the 4 cores. (This is with the Xtreme burn-in test with max AA and post Fx)
Seatools brought back no errors for all drives with the Short Drive Self Tests.
Specs:
Motherboard: Gigabyte P55 UD4P (latest bios flashed, no overclocking done)
CPU: Intel Core i7 860 (not overclocked running at stock, custom cooler)
Graphics Card: Nvidia 560Ti Hawk by MSI (latest video drivers WHQL)
Ram: 2 sticks of 8GB DDR3 2 sticks of 4GB DDR3 both running at the same stock speeds (again windows memory test revealed no issues)
HDDs: All sata 2 NOT RAID, 3 drives 2 by Western Digital (3 years old), 1 by Segate (4 years old)
PSU: Andyson 650W (this is a good quality modular PSU not the cheap stuff you buy from anywhere)
Optical Drive: HP Blu Ray SATA
Could it still be bad ram or bad SATA cables?
